Fuel Injector Went Bad on #1

So I was at the track with my 2018 ZL1 1LE, and I got a ding Sunday Morning... "Service Stabilitrak", Ding, "Service Rear Axle".

I am like huh?? I look under the car and everything seems fine, and the car was not making any strange noises or driving weird so I continue my day on the track and even get my personal best.

I trailer the car back home, and a couple days later I take it off the trailer with the same error messages popping up so I take it over to the dealer.

Couple days later they tell my my Fuel Injector went bad at cylinder one and they need to replace all 4.

I ask them... "Was my horse power reduced because of this", and of course he said yes, and you would get bad gas mileage, which made me laugh since the car already gets horrible gas mileage.

Also made me think wow, I got my best lap on only 7 cylinders basically.

So the car has been at the dealer now for over a week since they are waiting on parts, but I should get it back in the next few days hopefully.

Also he made me sign a paper saying if I had any aftermarket parts on the car that it could void my warranty which I found very interesting.

The car is totally stock so i had nothing to worry about but I have thought of putting some bolt-ons intake, exhaust so on, hope that does not void your warranty?

Anyone else have any Injector issues on there 2018 ZL1 1LE?

So they produced documents to sign, to make you declare any after market mods? Wow thats something I have never seen before.

Hi ZL1Tracker,

Do you by chance have a copy of that doc that you could post. Seems to be contrary to the MM Act, I'm wondering if our low-life liberals in CA are now trying to create some new restrictions, or it's GM, or just some local dealer that thinks they can do what they want.

My two primary dealers are SoCal and neither have ever said anything like that. I am also completely stock, and don't expect it to become an issue for me, but it is a very interesting situation..

My experience with failed DI injectors (both solenoid style and piezoelectric) has almost always been them sticking open or leaking down. It’s usually very noticeable when they fail (bad misfire, raw fuel odor from exhaust, etc.), so I’m a little surprised that’s what it is. I’ve seen a number of engines fail this way. Basically hydro locked by fuel.

I’ve also seen issues with carbon buildup causing spray pattern issues, but that’s usually with higher mileage engines. Still, misfires are the usual symptom.

Nope car had no catastrophic failures and I was able to drive it to the dealer without any issues.

I don't but I should since I signed it and the dealers are suppose to give you a copy of anything you sign.

I will make sure to get a copy of it when I pick up the car and I can post it then.

Also I would assume this is coming from GM not the dealer because I can't see a dealer not wanting to do warranty work, but I will find out.

To be honest I was kind of surprised when they told me it was an injector because the car ran just fine other then electronic issues at first where I could not put the car in Sport1 even though I was in track mode and the traction control light was blinking on the dash for a minute along with the check engine light on but no misfires and no bad smells.

Here is a video of my last session with the car at the track before heading home and bringing the car to the dealer.

My car had that same message come up when I had a spark plug wire that was not fully on the plug. The first plug on the passenger side is hard to get all the way on because there is little room. It would be fine under light to moderate driving but under heavy acceleration it would miss fire causing the message.

Zl1 miss fire cylinder 1

Hello all, I have a 2017 zl1 intermittent miss fire trying to narrow it down has anyone else seen this? I just hit 19k miles on it always 91 in the car that's as high as I get in my area...

Also for those with modified cars magnuson bill states your car warranty can NOT be void due to aftermarket parts unless the manufacturer can prove that the aftermarket part caused the failure.
