once you get everything cleaned up buy a set of weather techs for winter and keep your good mats for summer use only. works great and they last forever.

if it salts stains and hardened salt, try vinegar, because its acidic and salt is alkaline, add a bit of rubbing alcohol , put it in a spray bottle and let it soak, cheap and ez. baking soda and vinegar is good for carpet stains as well.
