windshield star

Dammmmmmmmm!!!! Driving home with no one within 200 feet of me and a rock hits my windshield directly in front of where my eyes look. Big star burst. I say ok, no problem, we have people who come to the dealership ( I work for a big new car dealership chain with 17 car stores and 5 Harley dealerships ) and just inject the windshield problem solved. Well the guy looked at it today and he said no dice.....you need a new windshield. Of course I want a GM windshield and I am thinking of not claiming it on insurance as to not have a claim. My wife says I am crazy, just claim it. Does anyone have a bad experience with making a glass claim on their insurance policy? It's going to be about 550.00 installed GM glass plus tax and they are on back order! Any words of wisdom???

Usually windshields fall under comprehensive and due to it being “safety issue” the insurance wants you to be able to see out of your vehicle. Lol

At least on mine American modern policy it’s zero deductible and has no bearing on rate, etc. I’ve claimed windshields on all my cars at least once and have never had the rate increase on me

Dang that sucks. At least now I know how much a new windshield costs. I have come to the conclusion they are a wear item and need to be replaced every so often. I hate looking through chipped up glass. Hopefully the replacement will come out ok.

Fl Insurance

It is illegal in Florida to drive with any cracks in the windshield so ALL insurance companies must replace windshields for free and this is part of comprehensive so it does not affect rate. Do it too often they may get mad but they are required to repair or replace and if in sight line must replace.

I had mine replaced the first month of owning the car and already have a few small chips in the new one. Like others said, here in Florida the insurance company has to pay for a new one.

There's no cost for windshield replacement under FL insurance, as long as you have comprehensive coverage.
