For those running meth. 50/50 or 100%?

I am sure this has been beat to death but search did not reveal good results. Looking for some real world experience. My car goes in for a retune at the end of the month. One of the things that will be tuned is the meth setup. I was all set to do a 50/50 mix and call it a day, but my tuner wants to try 100%. I have no experience ether way and would really appreciate you passing on your knowledge so I can skip the learning curve.

Thanks
Travis

I'm in the same boat. 100% (assuming your kit can sustain it) will yeild better results. The drawback is, you have to be on top of it. You can't leave it in the tank for weeks on end and expect the same results as a fresh can and if the meth system goes down you had best take your foot off the loud pedal asap. 50/50 will have a slight octane boost and the water will have a cooling effect but it's more there for a safety factor than power.

My plan is to have 2 tunes and probably run the 50/50 most of the time.

I would also have two tunes. Only run 100% at the track.

I am taking the car over to Kennewick Washington to Kaizenspeed. The car was tuned by a local shop here in Portland, but they were not familiar with the car and it needs tweaked to be nice.

Who did your tune?

When I talked to Tom a while ago he had not done a new ZL1 and I got the impression he was not interested in messing around with the meth. He was going to do some research and get back to me. That was a few months ago. Some one on here gave a good referral to Kaizenspeed and me and another guy with a Z our going to try them out. After several conversations they seem to know there stuff and are willing to spend the time to talk to me. They also have done a few ZL1 A10's before which is hard to find in this area. PSI over in Hillsboro did my Corvette but when I talked to Jason they farm it out to Weapons X and basically are a middle man with a DYNO and a shop.

I run 50/50 M1 Vp Methanol and 50 percent water with a 1000cc Nozzle, however I'm getting ready to run two nozzles, 1000 cc and 500 cc.. Water actually cools better then straight Methanol as it has higher tendency to quickly evaporate. I bring mine on at about 6 lbs of boost and run it wide open till I finish my run, that helps keep your IAT temps down as you make your full pass. If you can keep your IAT temps around 135 on the big end of the track it probably won't pull timing.

i always ran 100%, it is easier, no mixing, no worries about spraying too much, adds to your fuel system. the stuff works great when you are octane limited.

that being said once i tried e85 i never ran meth again.

E85 would be great. Hard to find here in the NW. Plus I have heard I would need a cam to do full E85 in the ZL1 even with the small mods I have. If I thought I could just do the low side pump, flex fuel sensor and tune I would be all over it

We typically run everything 100%. Most of the time at least two nozzles. You can't believe how much this stuff drops your IATs! I always use the VP stuff.
