Diff Fluid

New to the forums and my first post. I have a ZL1 1LE and taking it to the track for the first time. I am swapping the brake fluid and oil as recommended but having trouble finding the Differential Fluid that I should use. In the car groups here in Tampa, people are recommending Redline, Amsoil and Royal Purple.

I have seen AC Delco 75W-90 posted on the forums as well.

Any recommendations would be great and what weight?

The general consensus is to stick with the OEM:

Really no need to look at other brands. Just stick with the recommended AC Delco gear oil.

I would go with the specific designation by GM engineers over random brand names thrown around by friends.

I would run Amsoil if I could figure out how much slip lock additive to put in...but nobody will publish the number and I dont feel like experimenting with a 2000+ dollar differential.

So I will be, against my desires, running the GM fluid.

Buy it at Amazon because the dealership prices are akin to rape without lube.

Many thanks to all... it is hard when you have a lot of people giving you advise who don't own the car.

very much appreciated!

I was reading somewhere that there are connections that hold gear lube as well as the cooler. It said you have to pay attention to the connections, as it is not just a straight drain and fill, like on my Tacoma. One reason I have put off changing it. I need more research.

Anyone chime in....

Just drain and fill. I do it in my driveway. Easy.

Differential Oil

I recommend you change it twice in the first 5000 miles. First around 1250 and then again at 5000. When I changed mine at 1500 it was black. Remember that you are not able to flush the differential cooling radiator nor the lines to the front end and back.
