straight cut vs helical gears (Procharger)

I've been seeing prochargers on other cars make a very high pitched shrieking noise that seems pretty loud but I haven't noticed this on any 6th gens since I haven't seen any in person. For people who have the straight cut gears how bad is it at idle? And for people with helical gears does it still make the same nice induction noise or is it toned down?

I can hear the gears turning with my helical gear setup, on my p1sc. I like the sound of it, but to the average non car enthusiast, it sounds like something is wrong with my engine lol

Personally I think the Heli cut gears are the right amount of sound. I've had a surprisingly number of people who hear me pull up at like a gas station, drive thru, parking lots, etc ask me if it's a turbo or supercharger.

You'd be surprised that more people than you realize know what that whistle is. lol

I have a D1SC with straight cut gears, it's most loud at idle, it makes a few strange noises driving around at low RPMS also. The noise is like a rattle from the lash in the gears when it's not under load. I know your tuner can change the idle on your tune to quiet it down a little. I got my system used, if I got it new I would have opted for helical. My hearing is horrible though so it doesn't bother me much at all.

I have a straight cut P1SC. It’s loud at idle, with the hood open. Close the hood with track mode on the NPP, you almost couldn’t hear it. It whistles a bit at upper rpm, but the exhaust drowns it out. I hear the airflow itself over the gear noise. At the track, with other cars running, you don’t hear it at all.
