Need help with drive modes

Went to Mid-Ohio this weekend, the car was great the track was cold 50 degrees but sunny. Ran a 136.9 with the chicane, still lots left in the car. The problem I was having was the traction control cutting power in coming off turn 11.(this is the last corner before thunder valley when you crest the hill the car gets very light at the exit) Also when I reviewed the PDR I can see that the traction light is coming on off almost every corner but I did not notice a loss of power anywhere else.
Before I went out I selected track, hit the traction control button twice and then scrolled down to the race selection and just waited for the screen to go back on its own. I thought turned everything off. Is there another step to lock it in race mode?

race PTM still has SOME traction/stability control, but its minimal.

To get it all off you go into track mode and hold down the TCS button for 7 seconds to effectively turn everything off.

I personally wouldnt do that on a road course setting and likely only on the drag strip. On a road course I would want SOME level of trac/stability control.

Sounds like you had it in the least intrusive setting without turning everything off. Assuming you pushed the select button after scrolling down to Race.

That sounds like the correct setting to me?
Set to Track Mode
Push Trac 2x
Change PTM to Race

I would assume this would be a "all nannies off" setting.

I have heard about holding Trac for 7 seconds, but haven't done any testing.

No, I did not press select. It does not show on the screen. Do I use the one on the steering wheel? I will try the hold 7 seconds in 2 weeks when I go back to Mid-Ohio.

It may work even if you don't press select, but I'm pretty sure if you press select on the steering wheel, the PTM selection screen goes away. The reason I say it may work even if you don't press select, is I think you can also move up or down the PTM list on the fly. Say you start out in Sport 1 as you're learning the track and it's condition, you can move up to Sport 2 to go a bit faster, then on to Race if you are comfortable with the track and the grip.

I've not tested any of this on a road course, so it's something you can try. I remember reading about someone switching modes on the fly and I played around with it one day while cruising around. I thought that was a pretty cool feature that I'd likely use if I ever got my car on a course. I've only done drag racing thus far and I just turn everything off by holding the button down for that.

As for Race mode turning everything off, it doesn't. It's simply the least intrusive. Stabilitrak is turned off, but engine power is still being controlled. To have full control of the power, you'll either need to turn everything off or try Competition Mode while in Sport Mode. Several people say Stability Control is still on when in Competition Mode, but I've never been able to activate it myself. I've gotten the car nearly to full lock in both directions without anything stepping in and reducing power or anything. That doesn't mean the brakes aren't doing something to help keep me from losing control, but it feels like you could spin it out if you aren't careful.

In my autocross setting I am going to RACE drive mode and holding the traction control button for 7 sec. to turn off all nannies, but the car WILL spin with this set up.

I'm wondering more and more about this TCS light flashing on the track. With the eLSD Chevy has said to just punch it out of the corners and let the car put the correct power down. For my fellow races out there, this is not the way I was taught to race a high powered car but it's what the technology in the PTM wants. I wonder if that TCS light blinking is more of a notification that the eLSD is doing what its supposed to be doing because when it is I never experience a full power loss like I did on my Gen 5 Z.

So is there no mode that will let you have the throttle but still have some other controls? This is the problem I’ve been having in autocross. It won’t let me get on the throttle coming out of a hard turn.

It was the same with the Gen V ZL1. I tried it once and wasn’t impressed.

To this day I’ve yet to see any TC better than the 2011-18 Kawasaki ZX-10R. That TC was wired to your brain. Straight butter.

I'm actually kinda glad this doesn't work well. I'd like to drive the car and not have the car drive me!

Please be wary and use Sport 1 and be very confident before "moving up". Sport 1 fixes moderate input stupidity and will save your butt. It hardly slows you down unless you are Randy Pobst.
