it's at max barely 3,400lbs fully loaded and with the heavier A8 transmission. With a manual they can be had at around 3,300lbs. There's no 3,500 lb 6th Gen V6 at any trim level except maybe a convertible.

Okay, okay V8 guys. You know what? Might as well get an ecoboost mustang, do full bolt ons, run 275s all around, coil overs/sway bars, and run a cobb stage 3 kit. It won’t be the fastest, but it would be fun as hell!
Oops... Did i just say mustang on a camaro thread? Unfortunately yes... for the time being, the stangs’ have a way bigger aftermarket for tuning. But hey, if you need a V8 then go for it!!! You’ll catch me rolling around town with my turbo going PSHHH all the time. And you know what, while you’re dying to unleash the horses, I’ll be loving every minute of my little PSHHH!!!! |

I retired at 50 after 26 years in IT work, saving every dollar I could, driving cars I bought off the repo lot at my bank and modding a diesel truck to run off free vegetable oil I got from restaurants.
I decided I wanted a new car. My options were go back to work and get that awesome ZL-1 or to buy literally the cheapest car on the lot, the V6 and ski all winter and detail cars all summer. I chose the V6!

I described my current circumstances because someone implied I wasn't self-made, not to insinuate that a V6 is below me. I just don't think that it's a performance car. That's my opinion and other's have theirs.

As a former 2010 V6 Camaro owner, and after moving up to an SS with the LT1 V8, and now a ZL1 with a super charged LT4 V8, there is absolutely no way I could drive a V6 and be happy with it outside of getting one as a car rental.

Gotta love car forums, where there are multiple performance offerings. Back in the Subaru world, the STI owners lord it over the WRX guys, and the WRX guys proclaim how they saved money and have a better daily driver...

I just found out that there are no V6 models that come with MRC, so it seems to me like the V6 1LE is essentially a base SS with a V6 in the engine bay. At that point it's just a nit pick on the weight, but the V8 has a far better power to weight ratio, and the power comes with a warranty unlike a modified V6

Manual vs Auto is more about personal preference..."smart", "informed", really has nothing to do with it. I'm in my 50's, have an engineering degree..but I know better than to tell someone else how to spec out their enthusiast vehicle. Guess I'm old, dumb and full of ----.
******** Did I ever say what you should have in YOUR car? I just stated what works for -ME-. As for age/education, that has very little to do with "smarts"---you either have it, or you don't. Being that I have an engineering background as well, I'm sorta surprised at your post. |

This thread is funny as hell! People throwing out their credentials, people bashing different engines, people bashing different transmissions, its just amusing. Next we need to start bashing interiors so I will start. The adrenaline red is the best, everything else is uncomfortable and reduces at least 15 RWHP. But if you add a K&N filter sticker on the back window you gain that 15 right back.
