Keep the RPM above 4k and you'll feel that the compressor is disengaged. If you go WOT from any speed above 0mph the compressor also disengages.

Dude, it doesn't have a clutch. It never disengages the wobble plate. The internals will always be moving, even at 5% displacement (can't go to 0). The pistons never stop moving. Sanden, Zexel, Denso, etc. All have compressors like these and yes, some even have both a clutch AND variable displacement. But some do not have a clutch.

Ya, same as Mercedes and many others. Its basically always on in some fashion...if not for cooling, for dehumidification

Little off topic also but seen RPM Dyno a Vette with AC and with out same engine temps also AC only used 10 hp guessing the new AC is pretty efficient
