Internals of Resonator
I searched this forum and couldn't find a solid answer -- do we yet know what is inside the rectangular resonator on the V6 Camaro? Is there an H or X crossover? I'm soon having some exhaust work done, and would hate to have it removed for a crossover, if one is already present inside. Thank you!

IIRC I believe @PolynesianPowerhouse was recently talking about cutting one open

Was gonna cut it last week but when i leave work ill upload a pic as its still in my trunk... that rear resonator we have... two perforated tubes and straight through. Theres no x or h inside at all.
Also to note theres like a lil nipple area in the middle. Its for water evac. It can start to rust and eventually crack. Just something to keep an eye on.. Will post the pic hopefully sometime before 2pm today. When i redid my exhaust last week i added in a legit x pipe and v band clamps.

What's the difference between a resonated x pipe and a non resonated x pipe? I have an x pipe and my exhuast restyled some now against something I'm not sure what or where it's rattling at around 2k rpms. Could the x pipe need more reinforcement around that area, since the resonator was removed? Did the resonator have supports that were removed along with it?
Sorry to hijack the post

If there's a resonated x pipe... its basically an x pipe within a muffler or an x pipe that functions as a muffler as well. Google magnaflow 11836. Rattles can come from crappy welds breaking, vibrating components touching other components like a heat sheild or part of the chassis. If you have vibrations you need to get under the car while its running and start pinpointing the noise. If whoever installed it knows how to weld worth anything why would need to reinforce any part of your exhaust?

First pic is the right side, then the second is a close shot of the front of the resonator, third shot is the left side straight through. Last shot is the nipple piece in the center of the resonator thats prone to cracking.

Perfect. Thank you much! Looks as if I'll be having an x-pipe installed in its place.

I actually didn't do the 11386 on the 2016. On the 2013 i did. On the 2016 i just used an x pipe. http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showpo...7&postcount=31

x pipe may quiet it down "some"... but from the engine masters test, the sound difference between x and h was merely like 1-2 decibels or less. and that was on pretty powerful engines in comparison. 129 was straight pipe, 128 was H pipe, and 127 was x pipe... nothing significant. (ep 22 if interested) stuffing a resonated one would be ideal if you can find the space.
