No Cruise Control Cancel Button?

OK, this probably doesn't bother anyone else, but I can't believe that the engineers couldn't find a way to keep the cruise control cancel button when the car is also equipped with a heated steering wheel. I mean, they even split the button in half to add a separate piece with a light to say the heater is on.

Anyway, does anyone know if there is a way to code it so that cruise is always "on", and the on/off button would work as a cancel button?

not sure if I understand your question fully but if you press the brake it acts as a cancel button but stays on.

if you want to fully remove it as in remove the symbol from your display you would press the center (cruise control symbol) button on the left (select button is on the right of the steering wheel, cruise control is on the left). if you hit that button it will turn off cruise control.

hope this helped.

I'll have to try it, but it sounds like the center button can function as a cancel.

This is what we have. I use it all the time.

This makes me happy to not have a heated steering wheel as I have a cruise cancel button. I use that feature all the time but I don't need a heated wheel living in SC.

OP - good luck - I hope you find a way to make the cruise work a little better for you.

Wrong, it turns it off and you lose your set speed, you cannot press resume and go to the last set speed. The only way to cancel and retain the set speed is to use the brake. The whole thing is miss by GM.

Nothing you posted indicates that.

That picture says it all. GM really couldn't find a way to incorporate the light into the actual heated steering wheel button, and then add a cruise cancel switch where the light is now?

I know that I can tap that brakes, but in every other car I have (all GM) there is a button by my thumb that I can just tap when I am coasting to a stop, see a cop, etc.

You may be on to something! Maybe I can have the heater switch become the cruise cancel switch like your car has...at least during the summer months. haha!

im confused...I have a heated steering wheel and I have a cruise control cancel button as well... its the cruise control symbol just below the headed steering option that turns the cruise control on (on as in enabled on dash, just need to press the down button to set it as you would set any cruise control) ..

am I the only one who has discovered this or am I misunderstanding?

Yes, there is an on/off button, but there is no "cancel" button (if you have a heated wheel) that functions the same as tapping the brakes, and retains the previous cruise mph setting.

ohhh okay. so your concern is when you cancel the cruise control, it doesn't resume your previous speed automatically. makes much more sense. i honestly didn't know cars did that lol

It bothers me too. My 16 mile commute is filled with police cars, so I use cruise extensively to avoid a ticket. Not having a cancel button is definitely annoying.
