PRAY Performance ported LT4 blower Prelim results.
Well, not really results but some interesting information. There were still gains made but not near the real potential of the porting.
Car is a 16 C7Z A8 with just an upper pulley. The CAI and the Exhaust is completely stock. Dyno testing was done in 5th gear. The base line pulls yielded 178-180 KPA and the proper AFR. After the porting the pulls only yielded 168-170 KPA and the car is now .4 leaner. So we lost 2 lbs of boost (restriction) and it leaned the car out quite a bit. Now we know the blower is moving some air despite the stock CAI and Exhaust. There were still gains in the middle of up to 15rwhp. There was no tuning done to correct the AFR so I don't know what else was there power wise with the AFR regulated. Timing was also not adjusted for the loss of boost. There is some power there as well. Once this car gets opened up with a CAI and exhaust and has the 2 lbs of boost back there will be some serious gains. This was an interesting and informative test in my opinion. I know with centrifugal S/C's you can pretty much count on 20/22rw per lb of boost. I am not sure what a lb of boost is worth on a PD blower. From my stand point I am not sure if this is a worth while mod for a basically stock car just yet. I think we opened up the middle without giving it enough air from the front or letting enough out the back. That coupled with the loss of restriction now costing us some boost makes this a toss up as a beginner mod. Now if you have CAI/Headers and are going to pulley down or O/D the crank I think you will see some great gains. End all would be H/C/Ported blower for max gains. Some more tuning should be done soon to get everything regulated. I will post up a re-evaluated test later.

Any further results from this with CAI / Headers? I installed an lt4 blower (still waiting to get it tuned), but already making a mental note of what to do next - so far rotofab / catless headers are on the list and wondering if this should be to. Thanks

Actually, yes. They got the boost back to where it was and finished out the tune and it made 669/720rw IIRC. I didn't get deep into the conversation. But now that the car is lined out the shop owner is very pleased and wants to do more.

669/720rw with just ported blower, intake, and headers? Or did that include heads/cam as well?
I assume that was with upgraded fuel system and internals as well? |

Stock heads and cam. They added meth. It still had the stock CAI and full exhaust as far as I know. It is an under cover street car.

Ah okay - looking to avoid meth myself, but that makes more sense. Thanks! I'll PM about pricing info

What boost level were you running here Pray? Were you running out of fuel?

I would assume 12-13lbs. There was a 2.38" upper on there before the porting. They lost 2lbs after the porting then they put a lower on it to get the boost back. This isn't my build and I kind of forgot about it to tell the truth. I can ask for more details.

Pray - I just changed pulleys on the Maggie and went from 6-7psi to 7-8 psi and picked up 23rwhp. It looks like 1 pound of boost is worth the same centri va PD. That is why I have been asking everyone how much boost they are running. It appears that all of the blowers are making the same power at the same boost levels.
The difference appears to be how power is delivered (different torque curves). This changes the setup...need for gears, converter, etc.
