Daytona on your bucket list?

The SCCA May Showcase event at Daytona has just opened for registration.

You MUST have completed the Daytona School course prior to this event as it is run on the FULL Rolex course.

Your 10 seconds faster than me when I ran Oct... It was my first at Daytona, know I'm breaking for backstretch cichane way too early, any other tips?

I registered yesterday, also registered for the club race in my CRX. Think I'm going to be a busy guy that weekend. I have a friend that's going to bring his recently acquired 350Z to run the Solo on Sunday too, can't be there Saturday or he'd run that day also.

Hoping to see if the newer, stickier RE71s will give me another couple of seconds over last years 2:17 laps.

The trick is ignoring that small voice that is screaming at you about going WOT when on the banking.

And you really can go WAY faster through the Bus Stop than you think you can.

I went back and loaded several PDR files, appears my foot & brain feel the need to be @3/4 throttle on transition from banking to straight (Where it really feels like the "tube" is narrowing fast). Note, all these were with PTM on in Sport 1.

Took me a few events to believe it, too.

In my old car, I learned the nose was so big, it would start to lift/creep up the banking at 140+. Creepy. The 1LE stays planted.

Also, at those speeds with the windows down, wind direction/speed plays a part. The day of the screenshot I posted, I had a tailwind.

That was the run with a passenger and a car holding up for point-bys on the bank after the busstop, I think a 2:05 is easily achievable in an 1LE.
