Yep, I hear mine as well. It takes a moment after you pull the ebrake button up to engage. It automatically disengages what you creep up in 1st or reverse. 6MT

Put it in drive with the brake set. It shouldn't move. When you push the gas a little, it will turn off and you should be able to feel it. I do hear a little click when I set or unset mine. Not very loud.

Definitely you can hear it for a good second!
With the foot on the brake,
Still in D, engage the ebrake
You hear it, wait the dashboard msg (ebrake set)
Still in D, release the foot
Your car will go fwd 1-2inches then stop
You are now on the ebrake
You can go to P

I do that every time
My car will seat on the ebrake and not on the P trans.
I’ve been told that to improve trans lifetime...

A good way to see if your e brake is working.

BTW be careful with the opposite !
If you are on the e-brake, and you go D or R, when you hit the pedal, the car will automatically disengage the e- brake and you are moving with no more brakes....

I definitely hear mine. My 8 year old loves it and says it sounds like a transformer. I know it works as well... I tend to fidget and for some reason I pulled it up when doing about 20 MPH and it engaged but as soon as I released the switch it turned off.

I absolutely hear it on my 2016 Camaro and my 2015 stingray, same sound on both. If you have the radio on or a fan blowing or the windows open or a ratchet jaw passenger, you may not hear it

I hear it when in my garage and the car is off. Much less if I'm in a parking lot.

If you really want to test it, go put it on on a slope and leave the car in neutral. You'll know pretty fast if it's not working.

No noise at all when engaging the e-brake. Total silence. If I forget to engage it before I shut down the engine...after car is off but all electrical systems still powered, I'll mute the stereo audio so it's totally quiet in my garage and pull the e-brake button up...the orange parking brake light appears in my dash (so it looks like it is working), but I have no confidence that it is actually holding my car in place.

Also, when parked on any level of grade, after I hit the e-brake and then lift my foot from the main brakes, the car feels like it settles back on the transmission (not a good feeling).

Does anyone else have the same issue, or do you get definitive feedback when the e-brake /parking brake engages?
Makes a hissing sound for about 2 sec. To test it just put it in neutral and see if it stays put on a hill.

I'm the OP...this IS my use case. I turn the car off, engage the e-brake, and hear...nothing.

That said, I put it in D today, set the e-brake, then let off the brake pedal. Car did not move, so brake is working. It's just silent in my car. So strange.

Oh well...I really appreciate all the advice and info!
