Possible purchase 17 1SS

Hey guys,

I’ve been a big fan of the 6th gen ever since it came out. Wasn’t really actively looking for one (didn’t think i could afford it) but I happened to stumble across one for sale. It’s a 17 1SS, A8 with NPP, Black with ash gray cloth interior. (Wish it was black. Not a big fan of the ash grey.. may look into recovering the seats at some point.) I’ve been reading up on them and am ready to close this deal. Is $28,000 a good deal, with ~8,500 Miles? Seems to be to me.
Also, The A8 issues scare me a little. But I’m hopeful GM will come up with a permanent fix should this car ever develop issues. If nothing changes should close the deal sometime next week. Any comments/Concerns I should note? Just looking to pick the brains of people way more experienced with this platform than I am.

It's got low miles and not a bad price and if your happy with it, then that's really all that matters.

I paid 27,900 for basically the exact same car minus npp and mine had 13k a couple months back. I was looking for close to a year and that was about the best deal I could find within driving distance. I wanted black though.

Oh and by the way the manual says they require 93 octane gas. I didn't know that until I read the owners manual

Shouldn't be an issue for me. I guess it's a regional thing, I'm from Florida and I never even seen 91 Octane gas.. Only grades locally are 87/89/93. Suppose it's regional. Hopefully I can close the deal next week. Will upload pics if everything works out! Car looks great. Only thing I would change would be the seat/carpet color. I dig the bunker vibe. Makes me feel like I'm like driving a fighter jet or something haha

Pulled the trigger! Man this thing is awesome and the exhaust rocks! I’m 90% sure the previous owner pulled the npp fuse though, as the different modes seem to do nothing to the exhaust note. And on the 100 mile drive home, the car would do the shuddering thing when cruising at 60-70.. also the red paint on the fuel rail cover seems to be peeling. Will be taking into the dealer Monday for a tranny flush and hopefully a new engine cover. I’m totally hooked though.

Are you talking about the drive mode button behind the shifter, or the exhaust modes in the mylink display? Because the drive modes button only changes the exhaust if the mylink exhaust mode is set to tie it to the drive modes. The mylink exhaust modes section can fix the exhaust to a specific mode if it is not tied to the drive mode selector. When my car was delivered new, the mylink was set to Sport for the exhaust, and the drive mode selector did nothing to the exhaust sound like that.

Oh ok wow, did not know that. I’m talking about the drive mode button by the shifter, it doesn’t seem change exhaust note. I’ll check it out.
I’m going to try to setup an imgur account later and I’ll upload some pics! I’m already in Love.

Also just curious if anyone knows. There is a sticker on the windshield that says “perma plate” I think this is some kind of paint coating? Is there any way to tell if has a coating?

https://permaplate.com/

It appears to be a secondary warranty program of some sort.

EDIT: Okay, so it IS a coating of some kind but details are sparse.
