Your friend also has insulation/sound deadening in his car, Chevy took ours out for weight savings.

How i wish I could easily put it all back in!!
The CTS-V is pretty quiet.

I sound deadened the trunk, doors, and interior floor a little. Also added some soundening panels to the inside of the doors, installed some acoustic foam behind the door speakers and acoustic foam rings on the backside of the 6x9s on the rear shelf.

It made quite a bit of difference, no rattles in the doors and the bass and mids are more pronounced.

At 70mph I'm registering 66 Db, until I mash the skinny pedal and the S/C whine starts singing like Mariah Carey

Most car sound systems are crap (B & O in Audi, Mark Levinson in Lexus, are a few that sound great from factory) . The sound system in my ‘17 Maserati Levante is crap, actually worse than what came in the Camaro. I always opt for the lowest version of a sound system and replace them with full systems (digital sound process with time alignment, multiple amplifiers, three way front stage, custom woofer) same was done with the ZL1

Well, coming from a '15 Z/28, which had a pretty crappy, basic stereo/CD system, I'm pretty thrilled with the factory system in my ZLE.

The Z/28 made beautiful motor noise, but it took about 10 minutes to just get the bluetooth connected so the phone/contact list would mate up, and there were plenty of times the voice command for calls would just not work right. The system would not play the bluetooth audio for the songs on my phone. I kept telling myself I didn't buy it for the stereo/electronics!!!!

I’d start reading posts in the audio section of the forum. Upgrading the speakers in the ZL1 won’t make the upgrade your looking for wiith out related electronics.

Truth. You'll be replacing amps and speakers. Not a quick fix at all.

Why? Bose systems use low impedance (1-2 ohm) speakers and the amps are designed to run them (allows them to use a smaller amp). If you install door speakers with say 4 ohms you'll have to really crank the volume to get any sound from them, meanwhile all your other OEM speakers will be blaring. The only way around this is to replace speakers and the amps to get the uniformity you need.

You can buy better, low impedance speaker replacements but they are not cheap.

That's why I focused on better enclosures, i.e. sound deadening and acoustic foam behind the speakers to improve the "housing" (doors, etc.). Highs still aren't great but overall the system is better than before. At the end of the day, you are in a car, quite possibly one of the worst acoustical chambers.

Wait a minute... if I'm reading this thread correctly, you guys are saying that there is a sound system included in the ZL1?? I've always just listened to the music of the supercharger and exhaust. I had no idea there were other options!

They could offer an optional sound system or subwoofer. No big deal...I think the stereo is adequate.

Yes. I wish the B&O from my Audi was in my ZL1. Sound system is my only complaint. It is really bad. All highs and lows it must be Bose. Terrible non existent midrange. Oh well.
