i think thats a valid point.when 90% of camaros are automatic, people will wind up paying extra for the manual trans due to supply and demand.

Totally agree, this guys talking about a 68 Shelby GT500 yes the stick shift is worth more because the super rich person that’s going to buy that car will never drive it anyway , its for bragging not dragging lol. Yes super rich people will always have a token stick shift in the stable because they have 10 other cars to drive all with automatics. But the normal person in the world has one car they’re not gonna choose a stick shift

I follow classic car auctions very closely. Its actually the opposite of what you describe. The rich farts who have money to burn and want to brag are not enthusiasts and don't know the difference between a cam shaft and a wheel bearing, and theyre the ones who buy the automativs. Those who buy the manuals tend to have nothing BUT manuals (or a vast majority) in their collection. They are true enthusiasts. The highest price ever paid at auction for a classic car was $38m for a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO. Of course the owner isn't going to drive it. But That type of collector tends to have nothing but the most exquisite collection of vintage and collectable cars, with a vast majority of them pre-war..... and guess what - there was no such thing as an automatic before the war. |

No excuses, simply telling it how it is coming from a true enthusiast that works on his own stuff and has experience with several different platforms. Both M6 and A8 are good...they both have thier pros and cons. To be honest I like the M7 in brothers C7 Z06 better then the M6 in the 6 gen. If the refresh gets the M7, I would consider switching. I do like to row my own gears.

I've worked in the industry for 25 years. Stick cars book for less, sit on the lot longer, and sell for less. These are facts. There is more demand for an automatic car because it appeals to a wider audience and is easier to sell. Look up black book values and what cars actually sell for, not the made up stuff people think they know here.

Reading through this thread, it's obvious there are different levels of passion when it comes to driving a stick. Someone who truly loves the stick won't compromise. Price, traffic, speed, none of that would matter. I'd have paid more it to get the stick.

I won't be sharing credit with some transmission module that was programmed by somebody else . . . I hope you wouldn't try to convince me it was just your driving that beat me if that's the way it went. Norm
