Wow! 4.2L Twin Turbo

Not necessarily ZL1 related but the new motor sounds interesting for future Camaro generations!

I'll pass on "clean-sheet" DOHC by GM. Gimme LS/LT, thank you very much.

So this engine is the baby brother to the 5.5TT V8, that are both for the new Vette. This next generation of V8 muscle is going to be scary fast. I wonder what it will take to make these cars use all that power. The CT6 the 4.2 is in gets over 600tq and AWD, so it should very quick.

Those engine pics make me both excited and a little overwhelmed. Looks like a lot to pull apart if you ever want to mod. I guess it's been getting progressively more complicated anyway, this is just a big step IMO. I know nothing of DOHC setups outside of the 88 Supra 7MGTE I had when I was 19, and even then my knowledge is very limited. Still, look forward to learning if something similar ever powers a Camaro. Seems likely down the road.

It's interesting that according to what I read, that they reversed the side of the intake the exhaust and intake ports are?

Now the exhaust ports are on the VALLEY side of the intake to allow them to nestle the turbos there, and they put the intake ports on the outside of the heads?

Current-gen diesels have been in this configuration for a while. It helps a lot with packaging/plumbing concerns in a compact chassis.

The "Hot V" setup has been used my Mercedes in their F1 cars for a while with great success. I believe Audi was first to market with a production version of that setup in their S8 and RS7, followed by Mercedes.
