But it was a self-inflicted wound. Long before the days of Cars & Coffee, I had a ‘76 Mustang Cobra. Blue with white stripes. 302 V8, 4 speed manual. My best friend had the exact same car, but white with blue stripes. We both worked at Buick ...but I digress.

I say it was a self-inflicted wound, because one of the mods I made was to replace the stock steering wheel with a small diameter leather wrapped steering wheel. At some point the nut worked itself loose and the wheel came off in my hands. Don’t remember how fast I was going, but I’m sure it wasn’t 75 mph. But still, scary as hell. I just shoved the wheel back on and leaned into it to maintain downward pressure until I could get it home and fix the installation.
Wow. That's incredible story. I'm happy you made it home safe and fortunate enough someone up above was looking after you and Noone was hurt.

He made a huge saftey check mistake by not pulling hard on the wheel after clicking it on. Maybe Ford owners will need to start pulling on the wheel before going out. Lol
Now that's a scary thought.
"Okay Honey, let's go to dinner"

"Hold on let me start the car, and blow my back out yanking the steering wheel make sure ...its locked- on"
