Update, Well i haven't had time to get to the dealer as their appt. schedule sucks. Most times were a week out to get into service. Tomorrow i am dropping it back off to get worked on and see what the deal is. For now i am thinking it is the fan not working correctly/at all. I ran the car for a while, turned the ac on and let it run for some more, while at the time i kept checking the fan and it wasn't kicking on at all. I noticed a tiny quarter weak spin barely then stopped. Kept pretty much doing that every few seconds.
At this point i am going tot tell the service manager that the fan wont cut on at all and 3 times while either stuck in dead traffic or standstill it started to overheat and temp climbed up until i got out of the traffic and started driving again figuring that the radiator was getting cooled by the free flowing air and temp gauge went all the way down to normal. I will update after the car goes into the shop tomorrow and see what the outcome is. I really need to make this drive to Florida and its killing me knowing my car could overheat at any moment until this crap is resolved. |

Cooling fan can be easily fixed. It's the fan itself, the fan relay, or rarely - the ecm.

Car is at the dealer now. Got a call little while ago said it will be ready tomorrow and it was the cooling fan that failed and they will be replacing it with a new one. Glad it was just that and hopefully i wont have any issues after this.

Gotta love that they had a car in for four hours for an overheating issue and they never once checked something as simple as the cooling fans.

Camaro is back in the saddle! Dealer replaced the cooling fan under warranty and all is back to normal. Ran the A/C for a bit and watched it cut on high and low so now finally i don't have to worry when getting stuck in traffic anymore.

It just quit turning on all together. Dealer found the issue right away, replaced the fan, and all is well now. My temp got up to about 230 before I was able to get out of the traffic jam I was in and shut the car down.

Have some issues with my 2017 1LE / SS( LT1) with cooling circuit to randomly to call for "safe mode" ,which causes the Coolant Temp. gauge to remain on minimum and radiator fan going on full speed and AC compressor not turning on.
Have 4300 Miles so far. No heating issues, coolant level is O.K and upon starting the engine after shutting it off and waiting for 10 or so minutes, all is back to normal. No CEL and no fault codes found when connecting diagnostics (expected 0119 or 0118) Questions: 1.) Anyone encounter this before? Any typical reasons for this to happen suddenly? Connectors which should be checked? "Suspicious" area on Wiring loom/s elsewhere ? 2.) On regular operation with AC (compressor) NOT operated : At which temperature does the fan kick in (1st speed)? and at which temperature does the fan completely turn off? Thanks for inputs and help. |
