I think I made the right choice???

Found out a few months ago that I was going to be a grandfather. I had a 2013 370Z Sport Touring/ Midnight blue / Frost gray leather interior / nav / backup camera. Also, had a few mods on it and loved driving it as a daily. So I asked the wife could I get a car with rear seats to transport the grandbaby; she said yes

I immediately garaged my 370Z and started looking at muscle cars.

I test drove a 2017 Destroyer Gray Hellcat 6MT. That car is a monster...I didn't think a car that big could be sooo fast; and the SC whine was intoxicating. That Hemi SC engine is sweet. And it had plenty of rear seat room for a car seat. But I've always been a small car type of person mainly because they handle well in the twisties. I can't say that about the HC.

Next, I test drove a 2018 Mustang 5.0 6MT.The torque wasn't what I thought it would be. The 2018 Camaro SS (I had for a loaner for 4 days before I got my ZL1) felt more torquey. Then I saw a used Shelby GT350 sitting on the lot and got infatuated with that car. And probably would have gotten a new one but the dealership wouldn't give me a deal on one. They gave me a price that was close to the ZL1. I told him that that price was in ZL1 territory. He told me that the Shelby GT350 had equivalent performance to the ZL1...I said BS. I gave him my counter offer...which was way lower than a ZL1. They wouldn't come down.

So, that led me to this forum, where I lurked for a while. Until a couple weeks ago. I started searching for a deal on a fully loaded ZL1...mainly on the internet. I was willing to travel a little distance or have one delivered. But a friend of mine with a Corvette recommended a local dealership. The salesman worked with my trade and got the numbers where we could do the deal.

Well, I got her last week. New 2017 Arctic Blue Metallic leftover with 6-speed (of course), nav, sunroof, dealer tint, and PDR. I got a thumbs up driving it home. The guy literally stopped his car in the middle of the street, backed up (to get another look), then pulled forward to give me the thumbs up; with my daughter in the car...it was pretty cool. Pictures don't do this color justice. It wasn't my first or second choice. But man am I glad I went with it. Anyway, here she is:

BTW. I've removed the front license plate. The car is currently in the detail shop getting the whole front cap and other bits with protective film.

And I became a grandpa tonight...a baby boy.

Congrats on the car and your expanded family! Great decision on the vehicle, you’ll love it and will pass down a love for muscle cars to the next generation who will surely have fond memories of having loud exhaust noises and fast acceleration runs in your ride!

Congrats! Pick it up from Hendricks in Naples Fl? I luv the color and looked at it daily on cars.com for months and months and noticed the ad gonna last week. One of the few cars in the nation that had what I wanted, color, sunroof, M6. I’m happy for you and hate you at the same time because I’m so jealous. Take care of that beauty!!!

Thank you. Yes, they shipped it from Hendricks in Naples, FL. They gave me a SS for 4 days until my ZL1 arrived. Hard to believe that car sat on the lot down there for so long without getting sold.

That’s a sweet ride! You definitely made the right call over a GT350. That’s a rare color, and so stunning too. Congrats on the new addition to the family as well.
