X2 my best pass 12.14 was early in the am as well. I think for a stock tuned car with stock tires launch control has proven to be a consistent and fast way to launch the Jenny 6s . And keep in mind I bought this turd with walmart special tires on the rears , even with runflats I think the car would have broken into the 11.95-11.98 range with better air and sticky VHT on the surface . Sundays test day at PBIR was a " B+ " as far as traction goes . I managed a PB of 1.79 60fts and my friend got 1.66 with his Michelin sport cup2s on the vette ( 10.86 pass )

Test and tune ( in the twilight is opposite ) the darker and cooler it gets the better the car will run lower DA ( assuming traction is equal )

For the rookies who dont know what S&S is , its basically turning off traction control , in sport or track mode , and then stabbing the throttle on the last amber and steer it as straight as possible . It can be a real headache on a ill prepped track . As the tires were begging to be cracking loose i could feel them and hear them wanting to spin. Thankfully Ive been doing this for 30 years ( in my mid 40s now ) and basically got launching my convertible SS into a science . I did better than the Hard top manual 6th gen camaro SS .
1.86 60fts are decent IMO and almost as fast as the nannies ( traction control/ launch mode on )
Each car has their strengths . IM glad I got the automatic , I just maybe would have wished I waited for the a10 automatic .

For the record I did break into the low 1.80s and managed a 1.79 60ft in launch mode on stock tires with stock tune & no mods .
In the M6 ZL1 on stock tires (or any other tall tire) I'm pretty much guaranteed no better than 2.0 60-ft. Once in a while I can get down to 1.98. That's because of the ECM booby-trap GM was kind enough to provide as the Manual Transmission Protection "feature" (aka Torque Management). It's also what has kept my ETs in the upper 11s.

I never use Launch Control, Stabilitrak, or Traction Control at the drag strip unless I forget to turn off all the nannies. For me and my M6, all they do is hurt me with their slow response and intrusive controls. For the 6th Gen SS A8 and ZL1 A10, you're probably better off with just Stability Control. The torque converter does a great job of managing torque with those short lower gears as long as your tires stay planted. I think Al O. even suggested that pushing the SC button once in Track Mode (disable TC) might be best for the drag strip.

I've only been doing this regularly for a little over 1 year (just turned 63) unless you count occasional street drags in the 70s with my '70 Nova SS 396 and in 2014 with my '14 SS 1LE. But I think I've learned a lot in that time. I chose the M6 because it gives me more control and I just love rowing through the gears, listening to that throaty engine respond with each twitch of the throttle. She has me in a trance with her siren song.

Colonel Mustard was a straight-up gangster last night, and snuck into the #1 bone stock M6 spot by 0.002 second. There won't be too many cool nights before summer arrives in Orlando, so every non-hot Wednesday and Friday night counts.

Vehicle Trim & Options: 2017 2SS, M6

Tires used on the pass: Original Goodyear 275/35-20 run-flats @ 26 psi (original fronts @ 37 psi)

Performance Mods (if any): Zero. With less than 5,000 miles on the clock, it still has the original oil.

Category submitted for: (1) BONE STOCK 2016+ CAMARO SS LT-1 M6

R/T.......... 3.540 (don't rush me, bro)
60'............. 1.839
330'........... 5.139
660'........... 7.851
660’ mph... 91.53
1000'.......... 10.153
1320'.......... 12.099
1320’ mph… 116.41

Name of the track: Orlando Speed World

Date of pass: 03 09 2018, 6:23 pm

Weather conditions: (include Density Altitude, if known): 63*F per the center radio display. Per the DA Calculator link at the beginning of this thread...

@5:53 pm: 106’ above sea level, 64.9*F, 33% relative humidity, 30.15 inHg, density altitude 345 feet, relative density 99%

@6:53 pm: 106’ above sea level, 60.1*F, 44% relative humidity, 30.16 inHg, density altitude 31 feet, relative density 99.91%

Since the pass time of 6:23 is exactly between 5:53 and 6:53 on the DA calculator link, let's average the numbers (not scientific, but whatever):

@6:23 pm: 106’ above sea level, 62.5*F, 38.5% relative humidity, 30.16 inHg, density altitude 188 feet, relative density 99.46%

Race weight w/driver: Unknown at the track, although Colonel Mustard weighed 3614 lbs on my Longacre scales with about 1/4 tank of fuel. No weight reduction attempts whatsoever. I had about 5 gallons in the tank for this pass. I’m good for 195-ish lbs with helmet and gear. So, let’s say 3815 lbs.

Track Prep: No idea, as I got there a few minutes after they started. Street car lanes ran first, since there weren't any cars in "slick tire" lanes 1-2, "grudge" lane 3, or bike lanes 7-8. A dozen or so street cars made passes before I pulled into the lanes.

Notes: The engine apparently likes to be hot. This pass was straight off the street after a 20 mile drive in traffic and waiting in the entrance and tech lines. I didn't even turn it off between my driveway and this pass. All other passes last night were a little slower on mph, even though ambient temperatures were around 50*F by the end of the night. Back in October, I had a mostly off-the-street pass (just 15 minutes of cool-down) that went 12.19 @ 117.5 mph. I have no idea where that particular speed came from, but I haven't seen it since. But, on that night, the cooler the air got, the more I left the hood open between runs, the slower it got. So, keep the engine hot and the air cold, I guess. These aren't the "icebag the intake" Fox Mustang days anymore...

FWIW, my bone stock 2015 Mustang GT PP “El Azul” M6 was #4 overall and #1 for manuals over on this site (with a 60-foot better than any bone stock auto): http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16739

As always, thank you for keeping this list!

Mark

Another new best for my stock ZL1. Oh sooo close.

Hey Merc, can you please update my times for the stock ZL1 list? Thanks
I know the mph is higher than it should be, I found this lane to be around 5 mph higher than the other lane. The ets were consistent between the 2 lanes though. I showed the discrepancy to track management and I was assured it would be addressed immediately. But for now, this is what the slip showed.

One thing I'm excited about is I was able to break the 1.7 60' barrier on stock tires.

Awesome pass Dave! That 60' is freaking killer!!! Can't believe that didn't get you in the 10s. You're going to make it happen, though. Congrats on a new PB!

Lt1z350, what's this boost bypass adjustment you're talking about? Is there a problem with some of them?

Your 330' and 660' are killing you and your mph should be over 100 mph with your 60' times, but man you really pick it up on the big end with 32 mph gain out the back door. You'll get there, don't give up.

Dont know if you have tried back to back no cooling it runs but my last time when did that I got 128 3 times in a row almost 129 the one run. My earlier run when let car cool some was 125 which I though was odd. I have noticed on my 27 track runs that my best mph always shows up on hotter engine temp as I log my runs with hptuners. Also If you havent yet double check you boost bypass adjustment. Do it the same way as your 5th gen with stop screw. Mine was losing 2 lbs of boost as had so much preload on the screw. I know 131 is possible as thats my best mph to date on the car but was 104 on that same run. My da was 325 last time out too and had I had a decent track I would have had easy 10.90-80s even with normal 1.70-75 60s. Try that adj before your next time at track and probably see 10s.
I'm curious about the boost bypass mod but I wouldn't want to mess with it until I'm satisfied that I've made the best "stock' pass that I can. Thanks for the into though. It may be something I might want to try in the future.

Thanks Dave! I know you're getting lonely in the 10s all by yourself . I'm going to give it another try but the good weather isn't going to be here forever.

The mph isn't right...I wish it was. My guess is it was somewhere around 126 - 127.

If you keep up those 60s, I won't be lonely long. I'm pulling for ya.

I'm thinking the track may have a low 1/8 mph along with the high 1/4. Hope they fix it for ya. I'm hoping my local track here in London has their 1/4 more accurate this year. It bugs me when things don't tell the true story, especially when it's lower than it should be. Lol

Wowza! You're making some killer progress Dave! I hope you get some more good-air days to play with.

I don't understand why you think your trap speed is off. It seems pretty consistent to me. With my new Hoosiers, I was trapping almost 126 MPH with my 11.5 ET. My speedo showed 135 MPH as my front tires broke through the 1/4 mile gate. Correcting 5% for the shorter hoosiers, that's still over 128 MPH. Your trap speed doesn't seem far off to me for an 11 sec ET. These cars accelerate quickly on the big end.

Big dave,

What was your launch technique? Tire pressure, burn out, PTM mode, launch control settings? Thanks!

I got my 1.72 with 26 PSI, 5 sec dry burn out, PTM Race, 1700 RPM, 10% slip on launch control.

Thanks a bunch Cal. I see you're heading in the right direction too. The reason why I say the mph is wrong is when comparing the time slips from both lanes, every interval matches up, including the 1/8 mph, it's only when you get to the finish line that the mph doesn't match up. These cars don't make the power on the top end to pick up 32 mph after half track. I think anywhere from 25 - 27 would be more in line with what we would see. Maybe the 1/8 mph is low...I don't know. I have run 101 in the 1/8th at another track, and 129 again at another track. Who know... I'm just more excited about the 60' and the et.

I run with all nannies off. Race mode, then hold the tc button for 7 seconds until everything is off. I don't go through the water, I back onto the edge of the water box and then do a decent burnout. I foot brake it to around 1k and launch it by the seat of the pants. I generally roll into the throttle before going smoothly, but aggressively to the floor.
