Is this too low at idle?

All the cars have what's called intelligent charging, and that mean sometimes it's not charging at all depending on whether the battery needs it. If it consistently is at 11.7 all the time for a month yeah you got a problem but if everything is working correctly and you're not getting any other alarms, the system is just not charging because the batteries in good shape.

Then It certainly could mean low-voltage. Best to take it to any major franchise auto parts store, they can come outside and test the batt right in the car free.

I have a problem with my alternator. Does anyone have a recommendation for a replacement. I have a 2016 ss with a Whipple and a cold air intake. I just do t think a stock lt1alt can handle the load? I have had a d ad battery a few different times since I purchased the car New. I just replaced the battery and upon scanning it it showed no power at idle.

The ECM receives two switched voltages. If the comparison between the two is not within 3 volts, it throws p1682. The switched voltages go through the ignition switch, so that is a possible source of the problem. One of them also goes through a powertrain relay, also a potential trouble source. Battery and charging... I would say unlikely. This is an error code based on comparison of input voltages, not a "universal" low voltage. There are 2 ignition 1 voltage circuits supplied to the engine control module (ECM). The first ignition circuit is provided by the powertrain relay, through a fuse. This ignition 1 voltage circuit supplies power to all the internal ECM circuits associated with the throttle actuator control (TAC) operation. The second ignition 1 voltage circuit is supplied by the ignition switch through a fuse, and is used to power the remaining internal ECM circuits. If the ECM detects a voltage difference between the 2 ignition 1 voltage circuits, DTC P1682 will set. |

Remote start will not work if there is an active code stored in the ECM.

Agree, for the OP to head to the dealer.
As to the guy with the Whipple... I would go to the place that installed the Whipple first. This is a big mod and all I can see is the dealer saying he voided the warranty. But the Whipple itself is warrantied and the work to install it should also be covered. I would start there. from what I read about the Whipple you get a new crankshaft pulley as part of the install. Same diameter as stock? I don't know, but it could certainly screw up the alternator output if it is smaller. If they set the tension on the belt too high, it could ruin the alternator bearings. I think you would hear noise before you got outright failure, which is why I think maybe a connection was loose. At any rate, I'm guessing a Whipple costs a few grand installed, and that kind of work should be backed up by the installer, not the dealer. |

I have gen5diy RS headlight wiring harnesses and tailights wiring harnesses. Figured that would void warranty but I’m currently sitting at the dealer now
