Test drove a C7 Vette 1LT manual
Had a ‘17 1SS. Dealer/GM allowed me to return it due to problems very early on. That spooked me a bit so I didn’t get another Camaro. Almost bought a ‘17 PP Mustang GT. But down low power was a bit weak to me so passed. Ended up with a Focus ST, which is damn fun.
Local dealer here offered to sell me the Vette for $50K OTD. Manual w/NPP. 16 mi on it. Drove it and after a few minutes knew I’d pass on it. Acceleration felt about the same as my previous 1SS manual. Rear visibility sucks as bad as the Camaro. The Camaro shifter is much better. The Vette’s feels like a chore: notchy and rubbery. 6th and 7th feel almost worthless as tall as they are. Nice car overall but I prefer the Camaro since I’m manual all the way. Too bad the Camaro discounts are weak right now. |

Even if the performance is the same I would pick the Vette if the price is good! But I would want one with options.

What options? I like the 1lt bc the ride quality is the best. I do wish the wheels on the base were 19/20 like the 2018s instead of 18/19. But only option i need is the NPP exhaust. After the 1LT the Vette gets very pricey IMO

Shop around or wait a few weeks, its the end of the year. Lots of deals are going to be popping up soon. I saw some 1lt Vettes going for 43k brand new, in southern Tx. Good Luck.

A Stingray with Z51 is much better.. then the Grandsport will be that much better.. I'm not gonna even mention the Z06.., I broke the tires loose on warm cup 2 tires without a sweat. Z06 is on another level

The weight difference is not that big. Its rather common knowledge that 6th gen Camaros can definitely give a C7 a run for its money. Certainly before aerodynamics take over.

I ended up finding a mint 1 owner, '15 Mustang GT PP w/cloth Recaros, only 5500 orig mi. Had nice mods: Whipple SC S2, Steeda lowered 1 inch, exhaust. Receipts for all mods as well and were done in reputable performance shops near me. A serious rocket and was thousands less than a 1SS or a new Mustang for that matter. I had an '08 GT, so I'm familiar with them. Never had one SC'd before....it's quite the experience. |

I havent run into one on the street yet, but I wonder if my 1LE with a couple bolt ons could stay ahead of a stock c7...

Looks good.
As much fun as buying brand new is, it’s almost never a better deal than used. I sat in the driver seat of a C7 last year. Comparing it to my Shelby is what I imagine a fighter pilot would feel at the controls of a passenger jet.
