Which would explain why almost every time I pull up next to a Mustang driver (fitting the stereotype of course), they want to race. It never fails. Hey, I'm in a Mustang, hear me roar or some shit like that. It's pathetic.
Reminds me of one of the funniest situations I had a chance to witness. I had a Corvette at the time. Traffic was thick in downtown Detroit, leaving the car scene on Belle Isle Park. Mustang GT pulls up next to me and starts revving. I'm sure this was to show off for the cute girl in his passenger seat. I wave him off. A 911 pulls up next to me and we start chatting about how big of a dick the kid driving the Mustang was being. Apparently tried to get the 911 to race on Belle Isle. Never a good idea.

Suddenly we heard the Mustang rev and peel out, then we heard a bang. A pickup had rear-ended a motorcycle and knocked the cyclist to the ground. The cyclist gets up, yanks open the pickup door and is about swing on the pickup driver. The pickup driver points behind him. The Mustang had rear-ended the pickup and pushed it into the motorcycle. The cyclist let go of the pickup driver, walked up to the Mustang driver and blasted him in the jaw, kicked a huge dent in his door, picked up his cycle and left. Now the Mustang driver had a cracked fascia, accordion hood, dented door, and a very cute, but pissed off passenger.

I mean, who goes into a new platform slower than they left the old one? Ford. Then they threw together upgraded garbage on the PP which didn't do shit. Then they shot themselves in the foot since they couldn't build the GT to compete with the SS since the SS was on the heels of the Shelby. So they upgrade the GT after 3 MYs but it still couldn't beat the competition...and instead of pulling out all the stops, they paired the Bullitt up with 475 hp, the PP1, and manual trans, and threw the A10 on the GT with the 460 hp and A10 but the PP2 gets the 460 hp and M6. Why the hell didn't they just give the PP2 or Bullitt both the PP2 and the 475 hp engine. It's like they're a bunch of morons. Looking at all this bullshit, I'm starting to have doubts that the GT500 will be actually impressive.
I actually think Ford knew exactly what they were doing here, it simply back-fired. By introducing the GT 350R to compete with the outgoing Z/28, they were pretty much guaranteed "King of the Yard" status until at least the 3rd year of Gen 6, assuming GM followed the same pattern of ZL1 in year two and Z/28 in year three. Thing is, they didn't count on 6 Gen 1LE being as good as it was right out of the box.

For the record, I have found that Norm Peterson has been the voice of reason on the Mustang side and has often taken a lot of $#!t from some of the more rabid fanboys over there. I've been posting a bit lately on the Mustang side and I have found him to be among the most fair voices of there. Sometimes they are more critical of him there than people have been over here.

Norm seems like a good guy. He's a car guy, and favors the Mustang, but seems to do his best to call it down the middle.

Exactly, the 350R besting the Z/28 was a total dick measuring contest. And I think it caught a lot of people off guard how good the Gen 6 1LE is. I sure as hell didn't expect it to be near Z/28 level of performance

Any base Boss is under $40K, so your 'average of $40,878' is definitely invalid. A Laguna Seca is to a Boss what an R is to a base GT350, same as a 1LE is to a base SS. Different cars command different prices, same as they did when they were new. And why are you using 'average' when someone thinks his 500 mile example is worth $60,000 just because it set in a garage for 5 years. This argument is ridiculous, it skews the number way up. A true indicator of where the values are headed is too look at the lowest available examples.

You want to exclude 2012s... sure, here are two perfectly good 2013 examples:

https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-...odelCode1=MUST = $29,500
https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-...odelCode1=MUST = $30,444
Yes I understand your logic ignore the other 95% of similar vehicles listed for sale and focus on the very lowest price and that is where the value is. It will be interesting to see where 17-18 1LE's are in 4-5 years considering the 17 has already dropped 25%+ in year one using your lowest price analogy.

I enjoy "Hot Rods" the Big 3 are my preferred, but I can dig an Audi or BMW or AMG, just not in my $ range. Norm is a really great guy, I listen to his suspension & tire/wheel advise a lot. I run the twisty's with a new friend who owns a ZL1 and we just "follow" each other enjoying the G's in our cruises. Not all of us mustang owners are dicks.

So you aren't well informed about the '18 Mustang, but you still think you should comment on them.

Nice.

Yeah, I have an idea ...

How about raising this forum's maturity level.

My Camaro buddies are good people, I hope they're not in a minority.

I am with you there. Love my M3, but that will never replace the cheap to mod and enjoyable "muscle cars".......if we can even call them that these days with the way they are changing and adopting new tech.

Haha! Come on, this thread has devolved into good natured stupidity at this point.... just have a laugh and relax!

As for the maturity level? Well, we've had our fair share of both sides acting like stupid idiots..

Most car people are generally good people I've found, regardless of what you drive. I'm friends with a lot of Mustang owners, including several 9-10 second cars....it's always fun to trash talk them
