On a brush usually you can go by price. The more expensive horse hair brushes are the best and a good brush matters a lot. Also buy some acetone in case you need to pull some of the paint off of somewhere it shouldn’t be

I went with G2. Not a simple or quick process at all. But the results are good!

I too would recommend a better brush if possible, but I actually got lazy and used the brush that came with it, and it worked fine for me. I was just careful, and I didn't lose any of the brush onto the paint. 3 coats and its good to go!!

was on the fence for G2 stuff for years. went as far as powdercoating wilwood calipers in the past, and just running black w6a wilwoods.

on the SS brakes I upgraded to, I decided to try the G2 stuff.

not bad at all...

went out and bought like 4$ worth of 60 cent harbor freight brushes. so about 7 or 8 of em.

if done in very sensibly light coats, no runs. painting, via spray, gun or otherwise... usually goes in the pooper if you rush it. it was like a 2 hour job... maybe 2.5. I know I had to go somewhere last year and the wife was driving. we left about 3, and it sat till the next morning when I drove to meet the Camaro guys at a local cars and coffee...

truth note.... I didn't paint the back side of the caliper. just the half that can be seen with the wheel off. its not a show car and I doubt I'll ever do mirrors underneath for any various reasons. so for daily driving, track, autoX... it works for me. it hardens and tightens up as it cures.

With the G2 doesn't it come out looking like it was brushed on? That's what it looks like in the pics.

Mine look smooth, no stroke lines at all. When I applied mine I did do a cross hatch application and the paint settled nicely. I did us painters tape to cover all the none paintable areas, and I painted both sides and still had paint left over after 3 solid coats.

Plan on doing this in the spring when it's warmer. Two questions:

1. What are the areas that should not be painted?

2. Red or yellow? My car is garnet red.

Nothing that’s rubber should be painted. If it doesn’t have paint on it now tape it off, pretty simple. I only applied to the outer shell or casing of the caliper.

To be honest I know someone who did yellow on Garnet red and it’s not to my liking of taste. Red doesn’t match the car being two different colors of red. I’m a peculiar person so my own personal taste would be to send G2 my paint code and allow them to mix it up for you and bring the body color to the wheel. My opinion it would very tasteful with silver decals or black. Just my opinion but your car, your decision.
Mine are blue velvet metallic to match the body color with silver decals.
Good luck with it.

Not a problem. I like things to be uniform. Not that much more for G2 to exact match garnet red in a can. It’s a nice touch especially when you see the color of the car carry through to other areas. Buddy of mine had a 2010 IOM Pace Car and He too got the G2 to match still using the polished OEM wheels and it looked bad ass.
It’s the small things and attention to detail that gets it done.

As said and I too suggest, light coats

G2 holds up very nice and when I put my new wheels on I plan to due an application of the Adams ceramic wheel coating to them.

I also went G2 and it had held up well and looks smooth to the finish. Takes multiple coats and use a lot of masking & a decent brush. Have done G2 now on three cars.
