I like Malibu. Great temperature, near the beach, and Great canyon roads out your back door. Drawback? Very pricy.

Or, North Carolina, somewhere central to The Tail, Devils Triangle, and little Switzerland. Drawback, not all that great of weather this time of year and I'm not certain about the medical care. If you live here, PLEASE give an honest, constructive thought about retiring here, especially drawbacks.

Other than that, I'm not sure. Any ideas? I'm open to anywhere.

Thanks, All

Surprisingly, Florida rated #1, and Colorado #2... as far as twisty fun roads go, we got them here in CO. It's just the weather you got to mess with a few months out of the year...

Maui.

Now, for me personally. I want the hell out of Houston, but if I stayed in Texas, it would be the Hill Country.

Tenn and Arizona would be on my short list.

If I could I'd move to Texas. Nice roads, lots of open areas in western Texas. Big car scene, nice tracks, great people and amazing food.

Florida isn't known for curvy roads.

North Carolina is nice so is South Carolina. Not sure of the car scene in either state. Same is true of Northern Alabama and most of Tennessee. Arkansas has some nice areas and the northern part of the states is hilly. Colorado, northern New Mexico are beautiful.

North of Richmond VA on the east coast just sucks.

Just before I retired we started getting grandkids. Can't pry ourselves away from the cuties.

I've been to quite a few states in my lifetime, but I retired at the end of October last year. I never found any other place that I would rather live than York, Pa. I've lived here all my life and will end up taking a dirt nap here.

South of York is really pretty. Former in-laws live in New Freedom.

Texas is great while you're working as there is no state income tax, but as not the best for retirement since they make up for it by property tax so your taxes don't go down when you retire except for a little exemption at 65.

I haven't seen Florida get #1 before. It does well, but not usually #1. Colorado always does well also. But, yeah, snow.

Too pricey, but when retired, I can shop better deals for vacations there. I've never been, on my list of travel destinations though.

Texas, last time I was there, just seemed to drive forever and was still nowhere, lol

What do you like to do there? Probably too cold for me though

I just like living here it's hard to explain. I'm easily amused. Me I hope to have more to do with the Cocker Spaniel rescue out of Maryland and other volunteer things as long as my eyes hold up( macular degeneration). We take trips to NYC, Philadelphia, and Baltimore, MD. Ocean, MD is about 3 1/2 hours away. If you like golf, there are three golf courses less that ten minutes from my house and a few more less than thirty minutes. Of course if you like history Gettysburg is close by. Oh yeah Hershey
Park. We're kind of centrally located to stuff. Yes we do get snow , but not like when I was a kid. So yeah if you don't like cold for a few months it's not your kind of place. The Camaro hibernates.
I know people love Florida, but that's one place I'd stay away from. People in Florida try to tell you how great it is. From the things I've read from people I know on Facebook that used to live in York, there's just as many bad things. More rental places going up equals more tourists. One guy I used to work with lost a ton of money from property damage insurance didn't cover.
I hope you can make sense out of my rambling.
