Well, looks like this might be another topic for ask Al? I am the original poster of this question it appears no one has really been able to clearly delineate the differences between the drive modes. Even A simple question such as when in sport mode what is the difference between holding down the traction control button for five seconds to turn everything off and the competitive driving mode ? See... nobody knows nuttin’ in the owners manual is clear as mud. Hey life would be boring if we have answers everything right ?

I've played with them all and I still haven't been able to get any kind of traction control or stability control to kick in while in Sport - Competitive Mode (double tap). Someone thought TC would be off and SC would be loosened up to save you if things got a little out of hand, but I've had the car sideways at near full lock, and nothing stepped in. I've even made it fishtail to near full lock from one side to the other and nothing. It acts just like everything is completely off like it is if you hold the button down. Maybe SC will step in even closer to full lock, but someone could definitely lose control taking it as far as I did, if they're not experienced and panic.

At the Texas Mile, I tried every single mode available with both lights on... no burnout ability (it was actually embarrassing)!

With only 1 light on (the first one) I could do a burnout regardless of the mode (I tried them all). At least one other ZL1 worked like mine, and several Corvette owners reported the same experience.

So for MY car, both lights don't indicated "all the nannies being off". Problem with this is obviously some of our cars aren't working correctly. Good luck getting a dealer to figure out which one is working properly!

both lights are illuminated in PTM modes too. I can imagine no burnout ability in any PTM mode. So a 7 sec hold in Tour or Sport until both lights are illuminated will not disable both Traction control and Stabilitrak in your car?

I've never tried turning all off in Tour Mode, but I have in both Sport and Track, and it works just fine for me. You are right about going into PTM by using a double tap in Track Mode. If you go into PTM, you have to use line lock to do a burnout.

Sport mode double tap also seems to have everything off, so that makes for a quick and easy way to do a burnout and launch.

So at this point I'm at a loss.....
I took your suggestion and went out on the road today. Did a 7 second hold in both Tour and Sport (exactly as I had done at the Texas Mile). Both lights on.... did a great burnout (just as you suggested it would).

The only thing I can figure is that while at the Mile, my transmission wasn't shifting from 3rd to 4th properly (would hang up in 3rd at rev limiter for about 2 seconds then shift). A tuner there (on the last day of the Mile) suggested I disconnect the battery for 10 minutes and reset the learned behavior. After doing that, and on my final run, the transmission shifted perfectly for the first time the entire weekend. Could my traction control setup have been corrupted too? I suppose I'll never know.

At any rate, the thing is working just as you described now.

Thanks for all the suggestions and comments.

Im glad its working for you! I have gotten accustomed to driving in the CDM out of sport now and have laid down some really fast times but always flirting between too much spin and great launches. The key is getting these tires hot. The unplugging of the neg cable for 10 mins is a great way to set up an epic straight line run! The car forgets all of its learned behavior and resets to factory "ready to race" mode.
