C7 ZR1 Smashes Ford GT’s VIR Record!

Boom! Chevy is back, and back on top. Hopefully she runs in the 6:4x-6:5x range at the 'Ring. That would be the icing on the cake.

"The ZR1 can run with any supercar on the track - at any price" - Chevy.

The ZR1 beats the GT by almost exactly the same margin as the GT beats the ZL1 1LE. What’s funny is you could probably buy 2 of each of the Chevys and still be well under what you could get a GT for. Oh and the Chevys have V8s.

Amazing what chevy is doing on the track! The ZR1 is a beast, can't wait to see what this does on the Nürburgring. Chevy is claiming under 7 minutes which shouldn't be an issue.

Just curious does anyone here think the ZR1 can beat the Porchse 911 GT2 RS or Lamborghini Huracan Performante around the Nürburgring?

PORSCHE 911 GT2 RS. Lap time: 6:47.30. ...
LAMBORGHINI HURACAN PERFORMANTE. Lap time: 6:52:01. ...
CHEVROLET CORVETTE ZR1: ?:??.??

If anyone has a guess on the times let see it!!

I don't think the ZR1 will take down the GT2 RS, mostly due to aero constraints. I don't understand how Porsche gets a car with that much aero to go 211 but I doubt the ZR1 can hit that speed on the long back straight. I could see the ZR1 clicking under 7 minutes but barely.

No. I think it falls above the Performante, but under the 7 min mark. In between there somewhere. It's not touching the GT2. But, who knows. If it does, there's going to be a shortage of Zr1's on the market.

Agreed, which is why it won't get to that time. Honestly, Vette guys don't care. I know I don't. As long as it hits under that 7 mark.

I don't see it beating the GT2 RS but I do see it running 6:50s. Probably won't beat the Performante either. They need to put the Vette back on a C6 weight diet again and it'll be there. They got a little to lax with weight savings with the C7, to the point where a Z06 is pushing 3500-3600 pounds. Now the C7 Z06/ZR1 are blisteringly fast cars. But if they got them down to 3100-3300 like they used to be, they'd be seconds quicker on every track, and on the ring, maybe 7-10 seconds.

Man, people are quick with these posts, lol.

Maybe GM should start making people apply to buy ZR1's

Team Chevy!

I like the dig about the pro driver (GT) vs. non pro (ZR1).

Me too. But it is actually a very valid argument...I think that Jim is a really good driver, but he's not a hero driver. Personally I think Bill Wise drives better than either of them, his ZL1 1LE lap was monstrous. He's a balls to the wall driver whereas Jim seems a little more smooth and relaxed, sometimes going to the wall is faster.

Either way, Chevy
