I can concur with the magazine. Drove my regular '17 2SS (Brembos, stock tires, M6, MRC, etc.) around NOLA Motorsports Park late last year. Also drove a Huracan 610-4. Same driver, same day, same track.

While the Huracan was faster down the straight, my lap times were almost exactly the same. And I was even a little faster through the fast S-curves in the back. The only place the Huracan was better was that 2nd-to-last increasing-radius turn before the front straight. I had trouble putting power down turning left on that turn.

I don't think they like the outcome over on mustang6g and they're making up every excuse as to why it wasn't fair. They end up saying the same old tired garbage about visibility and how yeah yeah the Camaro performs better but the Mustang is the better overall car....sheesh.

They claim that 1LE vs PP1 isn't fair, that it's only fair if it's a regular SS vs the PP1, but then where does that leave the regular GT? You know, the same regular GT what will smoke a ZL1 as they claim? Get real! Fan boys exist on both sides but there's a lot of salt from the Mustang phonies right now.

1LE V6 = GT
SS = PP1 GT
1LE = PP2 GT/GT 350
ZL1 = GT 350R
ZL1 = GT500

That fits nicely. Only place I would think differently is that GT500 is more of a ZL1 / Z06 / ZR1 tweener. It will probably be priced closer, but just a little lower than ZR1. Ford's confirming it exists days after the ZR1 was revealed at LA is NOT a coincidence. Ford would like for it to have almost ZR1 performance at a few thousand $$ less.

Exactly, base SS versus base GT, does the 2SS have any performance differences like brakes, exhaust, tires, suspension etc compared to the 1SS?, if so a 1SS 1LE should be a decent match for the PP1 Mustang? making the PP2 in a little different class. Does the SS 1LE track better than the GT350 NON R? there has never been a matchup I don't think. If so will the PP2 out handle a base GT350 and the SS1LE and be in between the GT350R? Since the GT350 and the R will be gone (no 2019's) this might be what will happen. Will Ford sell anymore GT350 or R cars if the PP1 and the PP2 are real comparable track cars, less money and have the exceptional 10 speed auto. Gotta give Ford credit though, the 2018 performance wise is so much better than the 15, 16, 17 dog years.

Disagree:

SS > PP1 GT as to tracking. Where is the extra cooling standard on the SS on the Pee Pee 1? Same thing as 1LE and Pee Pee 2. I am not a Camaro fan boy but Ford is not into tracking as Chevy right now.

Reading that article really makes me even more proud of my choice of vehicle. I wasn’t a fan boy of either but when the time came, I wanted a v8. When I started my research, the camaro was ahead of all the cars in my price range in power and handling. I loved the way it looked and I didn’t even test drive any camaro. Just bought it and I couldn’t be happier.

I remember one guy from work was a big mustang guy and he was trying to sway me. But over time, we would talk cars and he was telling me about a wats-link, and how to change his shocks and the whole geometry of his mustang. That turned me off more than he knows. The pain and agony of his stories of how he was in his driveway for hours and hours doing this shit, and then the car still wasn’t handling well at all. His words. Such an easy decision for me, push the button and go in the camaro. Funny thing is he traded his stang in and bought a SS, he loves it.

I was looking at past MT tests and came to the same conclusion. Will have to wait for the GT500 comparison. Waiting on the PP2 tests but I would expect it to compare to the 1LE.

Funny thing is the PP2s that have hit the lots have the V6 rear spoiler Vs the 'unique' spoiler as listed by Ford.

I am not salty and I am a Mustang owner. But then again, I am trading mine for a ZL1.

If my ZL1 is canceled by Production Control I’ll probably order a SS 1LE (or a Hellcat? Or both?? Or a Porsche???? God I hate loving cars that much...)

I compared the prices recently (in Canada) and I certainly won’t choose a GT over a SS 1LE.

Oh I agree with you, I was just answering an earlier question/comment in the lineup.

I would argue that the Camaro options are the > choice in every aspect.

As the others mentioned, this makes me happy about my car purchase choices.

On that note, this got me thinking about the 2SS vs. 1LE. Besides the fatter tires (which are on the to-do list), how can I get the SS to match the handling of the 1LE?
