Pushrods and Valvespring Kits.. Not Many Options?
I have been looking to upgrade my pushrods and valvesprings since I am M6 with a Procharger.. just in case I miss a gear, this should be extra insurance that I don't break a spring and drop a valve.
Anyway, I have been trying to do some research on spring kits and pushrods, and it doesn't appear there are many options out yet. I see BTR, but that's about it. Am I just not finding them? Thanks for any help. |

BTR is great.....why do you need more options?

TSP has PAC spring kits for LT1.

Now if you want to talk about putting it in the wrong gear 1) NOTHING IN THE WORLD IS GOING TO STOP BAD THINGS FROM HAPPENING. 2) with a ball shifter learn to piviot your hand slightly so it will ALWAYS go into the correct gear, not possible with me once I went to a pistol grip. for your question, for stock cam I don't see anything wrong with LS7 springs.

I'm still learning on these cars, but are you saying that the LS7 springs will work on the LT1? I also have a pistol grip shifter. I've been driving manual cars since 91 And I know there will come a time where I may miss a shift. With the information you just provided it makes sense that this could be a non issue.

It would seem the LT1 has a 1.9 install height. I did not measure mine before I sent it for porting. This spring is WAY overkill for a stock cam IMO. comp cams spec a plain beehive for their cams which are not that aggressive and .550ish lift: "e didn’t want to buzz the motor over 7,000 rpm with the stock valvesprings and risk floating valves or possible piston-to-valve contact, which could be catastrophic. The cam card recommended using PN 26918 beehive springs. Comp suggested we try its new conical valvesprings for serious valve control at the high rpm (7,000) we intended to spin the LT1 during dyno testing. Here we’re removing one of the stock springs." COMP Cams 26918 Details Chevy LS1/LS2/LS6 Performance Street Designed for hydraulic cams .600'' maximum lift, 1.959'' O.D. Specs OD: Top 1.055" Bottom 1.290" ID: Top .650" Bottom .885" Seat Pressure: 130 lbs @ 1.800'' Open Pressure: 318 lbs @ 1.200'' Coil Bind: 1.100" Spring Rate: 313 lbs/in This will have to be shimmed for the 1.8 installed height, but IMO 130 seat is way more than you need for the stock cam and red line.

From what I am tracking you can't run aftermarket springs on the stock DOD lifters. And yes, we all have the same lifters. You might want to do some more research on spring pressures and what the stock lifters will take before damage is caused.

Likewise...I wouldn't run aftermarket springs with stock DOD lifters...too much pressure. I believe I was told that from someone at BTR.

Since he already mention BTR I figured he had done some homework. I only mentioned TSP because OP asked for alternative options. I agree lifters need changed for bigger springs. Not a bad idea to go little bigger on spring for a boosted engine either.
