Again, 18% overdrive puts these blowers at over redline or the recommended max RPM or 22,000. I think a 2.30 alone may be over 18% and most lowers only come in a minimum of 9% overdrive. You sure he put a lower on? I don't have the time to find and copy the info but if you search there's lots of reasoning behind pulleying the LT4's 1.7L Eaton. Over spinning and your car will pull timing even if IATs are in check.

And yes those numbers are really good, on a normal pulley setup with meth most should hope for a max of 680 RWHP. Without Meth, 630. Some with E85 and ported blowers have hit 700 RWHP. But I've never seen as high as 722 RWHP without opening up the engine.
The 2.30” blower pulley is somewhere around a 9% increase.

Is that good or bad? Haha.

Btw, I text Matt this morning and he said yea, we are spinning it a bit, but it's safe. There were 2 other pulley's we stayed away from on the bottom side. The 9.17 was the safe bet, so we went that route.

I'll take your word for it. But it sure would be nice if the manufacturers could release solid numbers on the over drive percentages like they all did for the LSA and LS9. Lots of people are kind of shooting in the dark. I think the 2.38 is around 9% and the 2.31 around 12% and then the lowers were 9% and 15% and 18%, and I believe the 9.17 is 15%.

See, I'm lost. I thought the 9.17 was 18%. But, what do I know.

It was 18% for the LSA which is all that searching for LT4 pulley info turns up. The LT4 is already spun up hotter out of the box.

Just looked at Lingenfelters site and the 9.2” is a 15% pulley. 9.17 would be closer to 12%-13%. 9.55” is 19.8% and 10” is 25%. There’s also smaller ones that are 7.5% and 9% overdrive.

A thread compiling all the sizes and the respective overdrive percentages would be super helpful for all of us and new people looking to mod.

If I'm correct, we want the biggest lower pulley if you run the 2.30 upper? I know Matt said we went with right in the middle so. Eh, this shit is confusing. All I know is my car hauls ass so. It runs better now than it did b4 the meth. I had serious knock up on the top end. It's gone now. Once I hit that 140 mph mark, I can hear it and I can feel it. It was struggling. Then threw a CEL. But, now. Runs like a top.

if you think you're confused, imagine how the few of us trying to learn by reading all the back and forth feel.

That's why I just get with Matt as well.

Just because you're maxing out blower speeds doesn't mean they run that way all the time. I know a lot of folks overspinning the LSA and can't remember any issues.

haha, exactly. Which is why I paid Matt and not some online know it all. Guy builds 1000 hp Camaro's on a daily. I think he knows what he's talking about.

Not sure if you're directly talking to me or not but there's lots of merit to actual facts and numbers. There's merit to getting out and building one and seeing how it runs too, but the science and numbers behind that is often very important and likely already factored by a good builder which I believe Matt to be. It's worth noting that some shops are going to build whatever they need to hit the customer's requests, whether they're ethically/safely possible or not, or trying to get the highest numbers to show how their shop makes more power than another shop. Anyways, no shade, just saying. Your car is making excellent power, if it stays running like it is, you'll probably be one of the fastest bolt on ZL1s in existence. As you may have seen, there's people with cammed + full bolt on cars making less than yours. I've overseen quite a few LSA and LT4 builds, I don't just bring up stuff for discussion purposes only.

Oh, no. My response wasn't any regards to any slight to your response. I was actually agreeing to your sentiments. I honestly thought my numbers were low to be honest with ya, but since they were on a Mustang Dyno, I do consider them now to be an actual good number. My 1st dyno pull of the night was 707. My 2nd produced my final numbers you see on the chart. Keep in mind tho, it was 35 degrees in ideal air, so that helped and that last pull was on 18lbs of boost. I doubt I'll see that in the summer time so. I see most runs on the DynoJet and from what I've been told, bump up HP by at least 50 hp as it's not a loaded dyno run. I see very few, very few dyno charts from the Mustang Dyno. Everyone is using DynoJet numbers and from what I'm told, produce false numbers due to an unloaded run. My Z06 was 786 at the wheels, but on a DynoJet at LMR. I know for a fact, my Zl1 will run my Z06 into the ground. It's that much of a difference. At least in my butt dyno. If my HP numbers are in deed good for my mods, then Matt deserves the credit. I don't know his whole history as I've had Steve from LMR build my Z06, but if Aldo Welds tells me Matt is the best tuner in the US, then I'm to go with their words. After all, Aldo is currently building Matt's Vette so. I tend to have to trust these guys that they know what they are doing. Aldo started my build, Matt finished it. I can only trust them at the end of the day. I don't think Matt would just do what I tell him, even tho my Meth argument won over his E85 choice. But, everything else was his call. I just gave him a check and said, get me 750 HP. haha. For now at least. I'm going to enjoy it, then we are going to work towards the 1000 mark.
