Or why didn't they up the GT to the 475 for 18 and ditch the damn Bullit or make the Bullitt just cosmetic stuff? Even then you have to option and spec the GT a certain way to get one that is actually fast. And now we're supposed to sit around waiting and speculating on the GT500's numbers? Nope. I'm not interested until they officially release the actual numbers. It's like they intentionally do everything in their power to keep the GT underpowered and keep people waiting around and wasting money on bullshit. Guess what. Go to a dealership and pick any Camaro SS off the lot and you got a low 12 sec car. Go to a dealership and buy a ZL1 without ADMs and without all the other bullshit (like having to option in a damn radio etc) and you got a car with Supercar-like performance. Ford plays too many damn head games just to milk people for money.
At least the 350R gave you the option to add creature comforts back in unlike the 75K Z/28 that it was built to go against.

Looks good but there are two big problems. It is too late to the Party! It's pricing will be outrageous (example, somebody just posted Bullitt at 53k + 13k dealer markup)

WOW!! That much for an intake, a cue ball, de-badging, and some left over Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer Edition green paint.

Yeah they are late to the party that is for sure. Also why I am very curious to see how they position the car.

And anyone that pays a markup for a Bullitt is just a moron.

Yes, but if you did, you could't take it to a track. Hey, Chevy should build a track specific car and use a track heritage name, and make it so you can't take it to a track.

Could be part of a package, like GT350 packaging. CC brakes may only be on the top trim.

Might be my eyes deceiving me but isn't the entire video all CGI?

True they are pretty late to the party. Seeing LT5 engine pushes 755hp, I’ll wait it out to see what my next pony car purchases will be. But in a couple (10+) or so years. It’ll be gasoline vs electric vehicles. But we are in a great time for a pony war to happen. Let’s keep that competition going.

Yea, it’s all CGI.

The concept was neat with the snake peeling its skin...

Would have been much better with a real Gt500.

Oh well.

Ford always waits to be last to come out with its Halo car. They sit back and wait to see what Chevy/Ford does so they have plenty of time to match/beat their competition. Kinda lame if you ask me.

I guess that’s one way of looking at it.

2003/2004 Cobras, ‘07-‘14 GT500s never really waitrd.

One could argue the ZL1 and Hellcat were responses to different Shelbys.

Maybe the Z/28 was a reaponse to the Boss.

Who gives a shit really? The Hellcat was the last player to the party and it mops the floor in its designated skillset vs the previous Shelbys and ZL1, just like the new zL1/E sisters kick ass now.

People get too caught up nitpicking things that don’t matter.

Ford always waits to see what Chevy and Ford will do eh?

That's not really true. Ford brought the GT500 out in 2005 when the Camaro was still dead and gone. They pretty consistently updated it after the Camaro returned as well.

2010-New Body Style and refined interior, power up to 540 HP.

2011-New all aluminum 5.4SC making 550 HP while being 100lbs lighter, improved fuel economy resulting in the removal of the GG tax.

2013-5.8LSC making 662 HP. This was started before the ZL1 came out when it was clear the Camaro was getting the LSA, resulting in Ford completely upstaging the ZL1 within 4 months of the reveal.

Dodge has actually been the one who waits until everyone else has shown their hand and then drops a nuke..aka the Hellcat for 2015 and then the Demon.

I think they are late because they probably initially thought that they could get away with anything over 707 (Hellcat numbers), and claim the top HP car in the segment again, and that would be a success.

Then, the Demon came out. Now they would need more than the 840 HP in the Demon, which would be very difficult to achieve, or to be better on a track than the ZL1. So, they probably started furthering the chassis/suspension improvements from GT350 to chase the ZL1.

THEN, the ZL1 1LE came out. So, they are kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place, considering more HP than a Demon ain't happening, and better on a track then the ZL1 1LE would be it's own challenge.

THEN, the ZR1 came out with 755HP in the vette platform. I know the Corvette is not the direct competitor to the Mustang, but it still counts as a victory for Chevy, AND Ford may be wondering if the LT5 may end up in a Z/28.

So, they have had to go back to the drawing board more than one time...
