I wish the Camaro had better road feedback. Do diff tires help ?
I came from a G35 and I loved the road feedback through the steering
wheel as made me feel connected to the road and made driving more fun. The Camaro feels numb in this regard. It's probably the biggest flaw I can point out with the car (more so than the limited visibility out the windshield). I tried Sport and Touring modes for steering and both feel decoupled from the road. Has anyone found the connection to the road through the steering wheel get better when you shed those nasty/loud sounding goodyears ? I've owned a bunch of cars and these are the worst tires I ever had on a new car. |

Think the zl1 provides ample feedback.

I'm poor.. Can't afford one. You're a lucky guy indeed !!
I do piss and moan about getting 18.5 MPG though. I can only imagine what the ZL1 gets.. 9 MPG maybe ? PS: I at least paid for the ZL1 rear spoiler so my car looks just a little more edgy. |

No freeway driving either. Just lots of launches and stops. But I do floor it as much as humanly possible however. It would seem wrong not to.. |

Indeed the V6 can give great average mpg's even in the city, though one has to choke off that right foot impulse, not rev too high, and nudge the car towards dropping down to V4 mode more often... but then what's the point of having a Camaro in the first place, eh? That LGX simply craves high rpm's, I can almost hear her begging for it every time. |

The V6 doesn't have all the structural reinforcement from the V8 models. Maybe try a strut brace?

The SS feels glued to the road with very good feed back also good mpg for the hp. Honestly if you bought the v6 and not the LE your driving a basic car that looks sporty that's it!

It's been a while, and I forget, does the LT have driving modes? Sport/Tour/etc? Last time I drove the LT, I thought the feedback was pretty good.
Another thought - what tires do you have, all-season, or summer? |

I’m getting 17.5-23mpg in my ZL1 guess it’s all in how you drive it. Mine is better than my 16 SS!

The stock runflats are trash. Try a good summer tire and it will make a big difference.

From the ZL1-1LE to the 4cyl rental fleet, you'll get an entire range of road feedback. The V6 is obviously towards the numb side of things due to the suspension and chassis setup. If you wanted more, you should have gotten the V6 1LE model, that would probably do it, with the SS chassis and brakes minus the SS engine. Better tires will help, but your main culprits are going to be softer spring rates paired to softer shocks, weak anti-sway bars and less chassis reinforcement. You'll get much more direct steering inputs and "feedback" if these things are beefed up. It's not super cheap, but some cars are easier to do this on than others, putting stiffer swaybars in my old gen5 was not bad and only took a couple hours. If you get stiffer springs (which are usually lower), you somehow need stiffer shocks, such as SS struts if they will fit, or the best solution, coil-overs. Doing these (sways, coil-overs) and adding a few chassis braces like strut and other, combined with some good non-run-flat performance tires, you'd have a tight fun chassis that provides good feedback.

JamesNoBrakes just gave me an idea - I think they packaged the V6 1LE kit for sale aftermarket - might be something to look into...takes all the guesswork out of it.
