I really doubt GM is going to sink a ton of money into the LT1 when it's not slated to survive past 2021 in the Corvette.

All the "if GM were to put a cam-in-cam" etc are just ifs and but's..

IF GM, IF Ford, IF Dodge, etc.

So next week in the H2H with MT are we going to need to put you on suicide watch when the GT runs 12.7 at 114?

No where did I say it "awful". I build and race VTEC engines, I've built and races 1972 2TG Toyota twin cam hemi engines before most of you were even born. I can see shades of gray, and just know what really really really makes the spray bore DOHC "awful" and you brought it up, so don't cry now when I tell you, your GF is ugly, the engine is not rebuildable. That sucks, I can only speculate what a 120K to 200K mile Mustang is worth. When I look at a second hand ride for my kids or friends that are bucks down. I know on a OHV, a valve job and re-ring is doable and relatively cheap. A .10 over short block can be had already to go at several location in Austin. I've re-ringed LS1s right on the car. Do you want a second had 150K F-150 with 5.0 or a 150K LS or LT1 truck for you once in a while beater? I think I'll take the Chevy or the Hemi for that matter.

This is immutable:

I have to speculate as this is a brand new, near complete redesign of the 5.0, using all the bells and whistles that Ford can muster. Since this has evolved into a technology question, it is completely fair to speculate on what current implemented technology could do for the LT engine. The technology basically saved the Viper for a few more years, 20% increase in HP.

Considering the HTH will be using the M6 vs the A10, it should trap less than 119. 114-116 would be expected.

Considerably less with that high (numerically) gearing A10 and it's 3.55 final. Whereas the Mustang GT M6 has absolutely no advantage over the SS M6. And is at a disadvantage due to lack of low end torque.

Did they say the A10 was the GT tranny?

I think he was implying the GT had the M6 instead(vs) of the A10

Yep, probably responsible for the lion's share of the performance with the 3.55 torsen and the really really good Pilot PS4. I got the PS4 on the Camaro and OMG I can actually use 1st gear again... I'm looking at a set of widen SS wheels with 305/30R20 Pilots for a little more street cred.

The PS4s put down relatively poor handling and braking #s in C&D's test of the performance pack Mustang. I'm not yet convinced they are all that much better than the stock F1s on the Camaro.

I don't remember off the top of my head what C&D's numbers were but if they were relatively bad then I wonder how much of that is the tire possibly or the Mustang suspension, weight, and chassis.

I have never owned a set of the MPSS 4s. I can say the cup 2's are far better than what our SSes come with factory for sure. (of course)

If the PS4's have better hydroplaning characteristics, they are already better than the F1's in my book. Boy does the car get scary when you hit a puddle of water with the F1's.....
