AFM valve DTC's in the FPCM?

I emailed HP Tuners and was told the FPCM is what contains the DTC's that need to be addressed if we wanna remove the AFM valves and keep the CEL off. Has anybody opened the FPCM and poked around and see anything that looks like this is true?

I read a post on Corvetteforum about HPtuners ability to tune the FPCM. It costs 2 addtional credits.

Here is the thread link:

I don't see anything about the AFM actuator for the codes list in the FPCM unless its just listed as a generic actuator. You can download a copy when you go to read the FPCM. It will automatically download since reading the FPCM through the ODB port is not possible.

Did you have a look at the info contained in the link posted above from the Vette forum?

Sorry I didn't, but I do see it now. I still can't figure out if the CCM is just used dual purpose as the FSCM on the corvette and the Camaro has a separate module for the CCM that's not the same. I just really wished we had access to the traction control and other functions.

Im being told the FSCM is the same thing as the CCM. Does any of that info in that thread apply in any way shape or form when looking at our FSCM?

I don't think so I think they are just using it dual-purpose, hopefully HP tuners will release more parameters for it later since they have unlocked it.

Here is the email I sent to HP tuners. I had sent some previous emails that included Year Make Model.

I have disabled/turned off AFM function easily in the PCM. If I unplug the now useless AFM actuators in the exhaust I will get a CEL that can not be addressed in the DTC tables (under engine diagnostics) in the PCM. I would like to remove and unplug the physical AFM valves in my exhaust system and address the check engine light that will result from it.

Again I thank you for your time. There are actually quite a few people on the 6th Gen Camaro forum looking for this same exact information as well. I would like to report my findings there to share but would need to be 100% on my information I provide.

Response below:

If your referring to the exhaust valves they are in the FPCM no CCM on Camaro. AFM is active fuel management and that is in the pcm side of the software.

*

FPCM is 1 credit so 49.00 to license it.

download FPCM it's the fuel pump control module that has the codes for the exhaust valves

The email i was exchanging with is
jmoeller@hptuners.com the name is Jan Moeller perhaps she could guide you thru the process as she seems confident that what we are after is already available.

Worst case you can unbolt the electronics from the AFM exhaust valve and reconnect them. Then tie them up and out of the way to eliminate the CEL while you investigate programming options with HP Tuners. There are a few threads on the forum that others have done this.

My tuner just turned my AFM valves off this past weekend after we installed LTs and x pipe and ProCharger. It was in the FPCM and cost an extra credit.

I licensed my FSCM and performed the steps in the tutorial in the Corvette forum link above. The only thing I noticed different for us was the "P12E3" DTC is already set no "No Error Reported" so no change needed. Also the tutorial states to look under the System tab and the DTC's we need are actually in the "Fuel System" tab In all there are 22 DTC's that need to be addressed. Now I still have my AFM modules in the car I didnt feel like crawling underneath the car to disconnect the tonight I instead pulled the F43 fuse and took the car for about a 6 or 8 mile ride. I shut the car off and restarted it again and drove an additional mile or so. When I got home I left it idling and put the laptop on it and checked for DTC's in the scanner. I was actually looking for pending codes as the Check engine light was not on. It said no DTC's detected not sure how quickly pulling that F43 fuse trips the light. Hopefully HP Tuners would show me if there was a pending code as well but it was all clear. Initially it appears that im in good shape on this.
