Yes, they revised the transmissions twice after some 2016 owners ran into issues. Mine came with the V3 transmission, hopefully it will be ok.

Congrats on your big move to a ND. Most people wont understand why anyone would make the move from a 1LE to a miata, but I get it. I've had camaro's and miata's and both are fun in different ways for different reasons. I sold my SS earlier this year and I've been searching for a clean NB or NC for a few months. Most of the mountain roads that I like to drive on around here are very tight and technical. To be honest, I think a set up miata is funner for me on tighter roads because they're lighter and more precise. You can have a blast going under 50mph on tight twisty roads with a miata carving from corner to corner, but at the same time miata's aren't fun on roads that are good for camaros. Camaros start to get fun on faster roads where you can open them up and use the power. Both cars are fun in their element, just different. It sounds like you are going to get the best of both worlds!!!

I couldn't have said it better Camaro, when not tracked, which is 90% of the time, was sitting in my garage because of the tight curvy roads around here. Miata will be used more often (still not too often of because of the race seat, exhaust ..etc) when I don't have to haul kids around.
During spring through summer, it's a blast to drive a small roadster with the top down around here

Ok,,, She runs good and goes all about..
How are you with have a 100% Chick Car?
I wouldn't even place my ass in that thing without the fear of being seen by friends and family.

That actually has never been a concern for me. I am not trying to impress anyone other than myself If it can put a grin on my face, I don't care if it's a chick car or gay car or whatever. I will sure miss the beautiful LT1 engine and it's power delivery that's for sure though

Picture of my white 2013 club edition below parked next to a friend's Miata (we both purchased at the same time) . I've been missing that car but since they didn't have any good FI kit available back then (only a couple, problematic turbo kits and an old Costoworth supercharger kit) , I decided to switch to BRZ and put a Rotrex kit right away.

New Miata seems like it has much more aftermarket support even within the first year (4-5 FI kits, cam kits ..etc)

Have fun! I have had 4 Miatas. My 02 had a Rotrex and put out 210 HP, with wheels, tires, coilovers, brakes, roll bar, no AC, PS, or radio, Ultrashield seat and 6 points, etc. It was quite a car. 949 racing was my go to place to shop. Also had an S2000 and an Elise....prefer Miatas forgiving handling on track to both. Very cheap to track. There are corners and short straights where I still have yet to match my speed in my Miata with my 1LE! Enjoy the journey!

If you like the Miata, you should try a Boxster next. I had three of them and loved them. A great car for the PNW roads. However, I now live in Wisconsin, which doesn't have those cool mountain roads. The Camaro SS is a better car for these long, straight, and pothole filled roads we have here.

Boxster is a wonderful car. I always joke that I can afford buying one, but can't afford owning one. Oil changes around here is $500

1LE is also surprisingly forgiving at the limit especially considering its weight but after driving my friend's track build NC Miata at ORP, I realized how much I missed the nimble, easy to rotate it is on tight corners. It lacks power for sure but when build properly they can be really fast.

See below for an example; sub 2100 lbs and 210whp (N/A engine build) NA Miata. Anything below 1:50 in this track is GT3, Corvette territory for the reference

I also considered Cayman/Boxster at some point but the maintenance costs and overall cost of ownership made me worried. I also saw a few people blew their engines and spilled oil in short 20 min sessions. Working on a front engine car is also much easier

love the Miata and miss my 1994 at times. i've never had so much going so slow, haha. on the way to duvall (from Sammamish where I live too) I was thinking about how fun the Miata would be on those roads. the smaller size of the Miata gives you just a little room to move around on the road while staying in your lane, and loved the weight.
