I had the C on my sill plate lift. I just used some crazy glue and it's good as new!

i guess i treat my vehicles much better than some of you. "Its only a Camaro"...wow. I treat my DD Jeep this exact same way. Why beat up / scratch anything...it takes just as much time to enter or exit the vehicle in a manner not to mar the interior or exterior. This vehicle is not a collectors car, but its my car, that i researched for months before purchasing. My 2010 gen 5 still looks impeccable inside and outside for this same reason.

Do i think others should treat YOUR property in a respectful manner...yes, hell yes. I never would have thought a valet or anybody would move the vehicle.

I constantly see very nice cars, camaro's etc. all torn up, scratches, dents etc. and wonder who would treat the nice vehicle in this manner. Surprised that applies to some of you guys. Oh well, i take care of my vehicles.

Also, any of you guys repair this door sill trim before?
Yes they repair it for sure. Take it over to the dealer and they'll get her back in shape for ya. After they do you can try putting xpel on it for insurance or just leave it.

And I agree with you that we should all treat each others property with respect but it's hard to trust randoms. I'm saying this because I'm closer with the younger generation and I've seen plenty of youngsters working at dealerships taking customer cars for joyrides and especially revving it out in their lots since it doesn't up the odometer. They love showing off cars they do not own. It aggravates me but it's a lesson for me to never trust anyone else.

PS: If you want your things taken care of the way you want them taken care of, then take care of them yourself... you should have parked your own car. And no, Valet is never the only option so let's not play that crap.
Anyone who has seen Ferris Bueller's Day Off knows that you don't give a car you care about like that to a valet.

Super over-reaction and thank goodness OP's wife was there to block the door. Just imagine if the CEO or some big wig was there to see OP go nuclear that the valet didn't treat his $40K car special because he is a special snowflake.

Yes, I had the 'C' in Camaro peal off. Its a warentee item. I called the dealer first, told them about it, and they ordered the door sill. Came in the next day and replaced under warentee. This is a defect in the part and will be replaced.
If you have to buy the lighted door sill plate yourself it is 230 bucks.

OP, why does your car deserve special treatment above everyone elses? Why does it deserve it's own special spot away from the other cars? Was it the only new car there? None of your arguments or actions make any sense. That's the point that some of us are making although I do agree that they need to treat your car like their own. I treat rental cars like that. But not everyone feels the same way.

Put yourself in the Valet's shoes for a moment.
He has a lot of cars to park, a lot of people waiting to have you park their cars.
Now you have people that want you to give special treatment/handling to THIER cars.
All this for maybe a $1-5 tip if your lucky?

Just not practical to expect the valet to cater you your special needs. What happens if everyone wants special treatment?

I have lost count how many times I've had my 2013 ZL1 convertible (with a manual trans) valeted when I took my niece to the hospital for her treatments.

Not a single problem, and yes if possible there is a particular older valet that will handle my car for me since he appreciates older cars, and he knows how to drive a stick.
They even take care (without being asked) to either leave the seat where it was, or they have an uncanny knack of putting it back after they adjust the seat for them.

Usually if you're parking at an established respectable facility that has been in business for a long time, their valet service will treat you fine.

That letter

Came unglued after only having the car a few weeks, I got a whole new sill under warranty. The scuff marks...yeah it sucks but u should be able to get those out. I have the same issue, hard not to scuff it.

Thankfully the few times I've let a valet park my car, I give them like 10 bucks when I give them the keys and and another 10 when I leave. They always take care of it.

I had one valet park it in another lot all by itself because he didn't want anyone to mess with it.

And here I thought that the story was going to be about some valet doing donuts, hopping a curb and such, using up a quarter tank of gas putting on a few or more miles, and then.....crashing.

Doesn't matter if a car costs $5,000, $50,000, or $500,000. If someone gives you the keys to their vehicle you treat it with respect and return it in the condition you got it. its called respect. not much of that around anymore it seems like... Will never let a valet touch any of my cars.

Update, received a surprise phone call from the hotels GM last night. It was very much appreciated since he called from his vacation home somewhere in Colorado. Turned out he is a pretty interesting guy, certainly a “car guy” like some of us here and we had a pleasant long conversation. He is a mustang enthusiast though, has 2 classics which are restored and him and his son have attended the local cars & coffee (his son has a pretty stout 17 GT by the way). We agreed to meet at the next cars & coffee and talk cars. He was very apologetic, and confirmed that the hotel policy is to never move anybody’s vehicle once it is parked. Once the front lot is full, the valet guys are to advise the arriving tenants the valet is available and their car will be parked in a safe location in the underground garage. He still has not received confirmation why some vehicles were moved and who moved them. It seems that some temp guys have been working lately due to the busy holiday schedule. He assured me that that the hotel will repair my vehicle to my satisfaction. I did inform him that GM may have an issue with the lettering and it may be covered by the warranty……. Have to honest. Since I also did send him pic’s of the dusty foot print directly on the bose speaker cover and dirt / dust scraps from someone’s foot he has forwarded me a firm that details his cars (and his mustangs) remotely, on site or at his residence. He mentioned the guy is very good and conscientious about people’s vehicles and does great work. Looking forward to see this guys work, may have to use him in the future.

Some of you guys don’t seem to understand, when we arrived I asked the valet on duty that it was my new car and if he could park it in a safe place away from other vehicles since door dings are no fun. Yes I did tip him and he assured me he would take care of me. The problem occurred when the vehicle was moved as I initially thought it was stolen. It is an issue of respecting others property, no more, no less. I guess I have to blame dad and grandpa for the many lessons and discussions about respecting others and other people’s property. Dang, must be an "old guy" thing or a "60's / 70's" thing the way some of you react.

Finally, for you guys that communicate with “text” acronyms and emoji’s….please rethink.

Why can't the valet move your vehicle? They parked it in the first place, personally your initial response, you had unreasonable demands and the letter coming of the sill plate really isn't a big deal literally can happen to anybody. OP, i'm sorry but you are unreasonable and the fact you got mad that they parked it in their lot next to other vehicles was unreasonable as well. Them moving your car to make more room was not disrespecting your property, you gave them the keys to move your car in the first place...come on now. I'm sure he didn't mean to rip the sticker off the sill plate when he was exiting or entering the car.

Whether you're driving a '72 Pinto or a '64 Ferrari 360 GTO, a valet should treat every car exactly the same. Not as if it was his, but as if he had let someone else drive HIS car.

Unfortunately you can never trust any of them to do that, which is why I'll never let a valet touch my car again.
