Totally. This will be interesting to follow...

Man I'd like to get a look at the block on the right side.

How recent did this happen? Dealer plate still attached in lieu of CA license plate...? Car bought in September? My state gives me 30 days...Soooo, what's the end of this story?

We just never know what tomorrow will bring and this is further proof! Wondering who will be liable for the injury accident caused by the oil spill. Dang, what a nightmare!

This is what I'm wondering and worried about... If it were me and they tried to pin it to me I would be forwarding this to an attorney and having the dealership pay for all this...

I hope the dealership owns up to this... keep us posted.

-- What scares me btw is the locking of the car (fuel and brakes) may have been a failsafe to prevent him from causing further damage to the engine after a major oil loss... If thats the case I could totally see the next GM tech just re-tightening the drain plug and topping it off with 6 quarts and calling it "fixed".

Wow, that is crazy. Glad you are ok, I feel bad for the other drivers but that is out of your control. That's why you slow down when there is a broken down vehicle on your side of the road.

A major defect somewhere in the engine for catastrophic failure to occur like that. Please fill us in when your find out what happened from the dealer. Hopefully they give you a new car but at least should give you a new engine.

It sounded like the car was also in an accident in the tunnel.

I had a similar incident on the NJ Turnpike years ago with a Ford. Brand new car, about 200 miles on it and a rod punched through the block into my oil pan. Turned out one of the rods was not torqued properly. Surprisingly I did not hear it in the cabin, but the white smoke and noise afterwards and sudden loss of power didn't go unnoticed!

Welp... I just always remind myself as much as I love my Camaro, they are just machines, built by man, and they will never ever be perfect.. there will always be a flaw.

When I read the "white smoke" part, I wondered if this is a case of the dealership tech not realizing the LT1 requires 10 quarts of oil.

In that video you say that the car won't start up. Does it turn over, or is it completely seized? Is the car in your possession now or at a dealer?
