Well, after 2 weeks..still furious at the Valet people at a local hotel. My company had a Christmas event here in the dallas area, and they were nice enough to provide transportation to and from the event and rented everybody a room at a nice hotel south of downtown Dallas. Was a little hesitant to take the new car, but HR assured me that valet parking is available and the parking lot is totally gated around the perimeter. Once my wife and i arrived, i clearly informed the young valet guy, "this is a new car, please park it away from all other vehicles. He assured me, this is an amazing car, i will take car of you. I stood outside the hotel, watched him carefully park my car and walk back with the keys. Good, its safe.


Fast forward, our event is over, the bus drops us back at the hotel..good time. Once we were back on our room i opened the blinds....no car!!!! What the....first i thought it was stolen...crap only a few weeks old and gone. While i was frantic, the wife called down to the lobby....well maam, rhe car was moved to make room for new tenants arriving to the hotel. WHAT!!!!! I called the lobby and was pretty pissed...i did not give anybody permission to touch the car much less drive it! i need the car back in the spot where it was parked immediately. The only thing that kept me from going downstairs and confronting everybody was my wife blocked the door...."no way are you going down there this upset". ugh....10 minutes later, no car..called back and..."your car was moved because large trucks and vans arrived and we had to make room for them". Now the S hit the Fan... i wont repeat what was discussed after that comment.

Five minutes later, i see my car coming up the underground garage and parked next to two car, you have to be F'n be kidding me. This time the wife called and told them where it should be parked. No way i could sleep th rest of the evening...totally ruined my christmas party.

Next morning, checked out and asked for the hotel GM, its sunday and he is not in. I requested his business card..we ran out...i requested his contact number and cell number...we dont remember his contact information but here is his name. The valet up front (same guy who parked it) asked me for my ticket to go get the car....he was told to get me keys to the blue camaro. Sir, i could get that for you, get the keys to the blue camaro now.

I ask politely if I can park it myself. If that’s not possible, I just go elsewhere or find a self parking structure.
Started doing this after watching a teenage looking valet stall my car twice on the street.

I once parked my car at a hotel myself where it was valet only. And this was my old 1990 Beretta GT. It wasn't in bad shape at the time but even then I trusted no valet.

This was in Toronto back in about 1998.

The guy was adamant I leave him the keys because it was valet only. I told him either I park my own car or we call the police right here and now to decide the legality of whether I'm permitted to park my own car or not.

He let me go without an argument at that moment.

I'll never let a valet touch my car no matter how much they tell me they're the best.

Now take a deep breath and let it out, dude you used a Valet service they are in the business of parking as many vehicles as they can in all of the spots and making money. Surely you did not think they would park your car all alone and keep you happy.

Honestly the letter coming off the door sill can happen to anyone just take it to the dealership they will cover it under warranty.

Lesson learned if you do not want your car touched park it on your own, but a Valet will park your car, park any kind of car near it and yes they can move it without your permission, if you read the fine print on the back of the valet cards you will see it posted.

Just be glad that only that happened far worse could have happened.

I won't use a valet ever. Plenty of places allow you to park yourself. For the ones that don't, adios

That sux... My wife tried to get me to take mine a couple of years to her Xmas party and always answered no way. Her party is like 1600 people. Can only imagine how they are running back and forth can easily damage a car.

Sorry that you were upset, OP. I like to keep my new cars scratch and dent free as well. But you can't expect a hotel to take care of a Camaro no matter how new it is unless you really tip them outrageously well. Nothing special about our car at all. And an owner of a really expensive car will usually have deep pockets and give the valet personnel a good reason to park their car in a lonely spot.

I don’t usually valet but sometimes it just makes sense. So then I lie to the guy that is going to move my car. I simply tell him the car has an RPM and speed recorder that is switched on. He has no idea if I’m lying. . And I will be checking in at the end and anything outrageous , I will report. That Usually calms most of them… But I agree, it’s just a Camaro, it’s not an Aston…

Holy shit.... I was killing my myself laughing at your story.. insisting on a spot, where to park, being able to see it.. jesus Christ.. its a bloody Camaro.

Now, when I saw the extent of the damage to your letter.. and the dirt.. I almost lost it.

I'm not sure you are cut out to own this car. You do know they made it in a factory right.., with robots and machines.. not in a custom hand made car shop.
Yes - clean it and either warranty the vinyl or have the garage pay. and then have a beverage.
