My experience after nitrous for over a year.
Ok guys, I’ve had a lot of questions on how nitrous on a 6th gen camaro holds up on our cars. So before I swap over to turbo I figured you guys would like to hear from someone who has actually beat the hell out of one of these cars directly, then from people that think it doesn’t work. Now if you blow your car up out of pure stupidity, that is on you, not me. My car is a 2016 1ss 6 speed and has been on no less than a 150 shot for over a year, and on a 200 shot and e85 for around 6 months with a nitrous express plate kit. Car consistently goes mid 10’s at 135+ and hold the record for 6MT 6th gens. First thing I always hear is on stock fuel system out car runs out of fuel. That is false. Unless mine is a freak in some way which I highly doubt lol. Even like the car is Your tuning is what is going to make or break your car as to what usually breaks car. Mine is tuned on e85 through HPTuners, no flex fuel sensor, 36 degrees of timing. Only problem i have had is axle issues, usual downfall to IRS. We also turn the car to 7300 rpm on a factory sealed engine, stock trans, clutch, rear end, etc etc. Only upgrades are a rotofab CAI, muffler delete, cat delete, lingenfelted timing control, and innovate PSN-1 wide band. Plugs i run are LTR7-IX and are the best choice i have found. Guys, our cars love nitrous, even with the tight ring gap. One of the benefits to the direct injection is keeping the piston cool enough to really not have to worry about popping the piston. If you have any questions, feel free to message me.

Thanks for posting this. You were one of the guys that I reached out to when I first started to spray my car. I was also surprised when I didn't have fuel supply issues. I did usually spray 150 even on E85. I run the same plugs, just not as much timing. What are your plans for the turbo? Are you going to start a build thread?

In all honesty it is not that much. The usual rule of thumb is what I went with. 2* per 50 hp of nitrous applied. So a 200 shot will only have you pull 8* of timing. My E85 tune was usually in the mid to high 30s. so even on nitrous that would keep timing in the 30s to high 28*. But I don't remember going that high honestly. Even now on boost with E85 I run 24-26* timing. But I can speak for Beasley.

Which exact Lingenfelter timing control did you use? Was it the LNC-2014
Thank you

I don't know what Beasley uses. I don't use a box. I change my timing in my tunes.

It is very interesting to me the amount of timing you are running. I have tested timing in N/A cars on E over and over and over again on the dyno and at the track. The cars never make any more power on the dyno past 26*-27* and never run any faster at the track. I have run up to 30* and in some cases it has cost us time at the track. The car's don't knock but they don't make any more power or go any faster. I have ssen them knock if you go below that. I try to target 13.0 on E and have run it all the way down to 12.3 or so to possibly take advantage of more timing. Pretty amazing that you are up to 36*.

Edit: just re-read the thread. Seams you weren't addressing me. But I just want to keep this thread alive as nitrous builds are few and far between. |

I will admit that the only alternate E85 I have used is the FTW brand. And yes, it bumped content to 95+% and it didn't make any more power than pump. But it seems that I didn't lean on it hard enough. My target AFR in lamda is .89. I am curious about C85 though. I have some customers asking me about it but I don't talk or speculate about things I don't know about. The deal with target AFR/Lamda/EQ is how you have you WB configured. I leave mine configured for AFR and use that regardless of the fuel. (I can see Ted Jannetty (sp) rolling his eyes right now.) But it works for me so I stick with what works. This thread does need to stay alive cause the guys using nitrous are flying but it still really hasn't caught on around here.
