2017 CAI Install - What am I missing??
I'm stuck. If I could just get this connector to budge, I'd be able to throw my new Injen EVO3700 on in about 30 minutes.
All the vids I've seen are of 2016's - there is a catch-and-release button on those for easy removal. Unfortunately, I have no such luck with my 2017. I'm trying to figure out of there's some sort of special tool or gadget I need to get so I can pry this thing off. Here's a photo of the bane of my existence: ![]() Does anyone have experience with this? Any advice, videos, pointers or walkthroughs would be incredibly appreciated. |

Mishimoto and Jason@JacFab have remedied this situation with the tools they made for it. Chevy dealerships have them as well but that visit is at your own peril. I'm sure there was a walkthrough on here posted by someone.

This video shows Mishimoto's intake installation, which shows how to remove the CCV hose on 2017 models. EDIT: Seeing as this is your first post: Welcome to the forums!

Thanks for the pointers and reference guys - I will give this another go next weekend. Wonder why GM decided to switch to such a PITA connection.

It's what GM does to keep us guessing.

Ok, so I got this tool to remove the hose. Fits perfectly but it's not working.
Is there a trick? I have other sizes as well, but this looks like the right one.

2017 CAI Install - What am I missing??
Most have had good luck using a fuel line disconnect tool of the right size. You can buy kits of the tools in different sizes at your local auto parts store
I've also been able to do it with just a bent up piece of welding Rod. ![]() ![]() ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

So I finally got my cai installed! Unfortunately, when I was removing this thing, I snapped one of the clips inside. It still clips on to my new cai, but my check engine light is now on. Is it safe to assume this could be the reason? I imagine I likely need to get a replacement tube or at least clip. Or maybe just seal it somehow. Kind of lost at the moment.

Try some Loctite or something else and see if the CEL go's away otherwise it's probably the MAF.

Cool, thanks. Is there a fix for it if it is in fact the maf?

Your MAF may be loose or damaged.

I would think if you do not have a good seal on the piece you broke, that is the source of your cel. Seal it, clear the light and see what happens.

So I realized that I did not disconnect the battery prior to my install. I went out, disconnected, waited about an hour and started her up. No cel light. I'm hoping my initial bonehead mistake of not unplugging the battery was the issue.

If the CEL went away then it was because you didn't disconnect the battery. I'm assuming you must've unplugged your MAF sensor when you uninstalled your OEM Air Box that's what caused the CEL with the battery still connected. It's normal and a common oversight nothing to be worried about.
