I know this is an old post but I had this message pop up on my dash at the drag strip last week twice when I was launching. After doing research I thought I had a bad reluctor and was dreading it. Well luckily, it was not the issue, my battery was going bad and was only pushing about 11.5v. My guess is, the bad battery was causing intermittent electrical issues. I replaced the battery and made 12 runs at the track tonight and problem solved. Just wanted to share my experience and what fixed mt issue just in case anyone else comes across this.

Most codes related to something in the rotating assembly, fuel pressure, throttle ,will turn on the engine reduced power message. Some will disable your oil pressure control valve and you will see your oil pressure go to around 70psi.
There are more codes in the system that will than there are that wont. So for the most part the message is just another check engine light version.
