Sport 1 has active handling and traction control "ON". Sport 2 has active handling "OFF" with traction control "ON". Race has both aids "OFF" with a little help in turns bleeding HP

Third day at Lime Rock with the ZL1 1LE. Starting to get a feel for it and I popped it into "Race" mode. I also dropped a gear EVERYWHERE and man, did that make a difference! Knocked 2.8 seconds off my previous best. Only bad thing, I missed going sub-60 by a mere 0.19 seconds. Next time...

David, that "X" on the wing, is it simply a reference to auto crossing?
![]() My only gripe with this car is that display as you mentioned. First, the resolution is crappy to say the least, this car is $72k for shit sake. ![]() The viewing angle, they really could just have mimicked the ZO6 cockpit, or something at a more functional angle. Was it that difficult to tilt it over & up? Thank you for the write up, I can't wait until ours gets here. Last edited by S.T.A.R.; 09-23-2017 at 01:07 PM. |

Had the pleasure to meet a fellow Camaro6 member yesterday at Lime Rock, met up with Racer56 aka Ron Cohn. Ron's an instructor, racer, and all around great guy. He has more than 40 years of HPDE and racing experience (I have a whopping 4 years) so when he asked if I wanted to go out and play a little cat and mouse, I was super psyched. I left it in the video, as we stage I'm given a warning about keeping up with Ron...I felt a little bad because we were weaving in and out of traffic but it was a great session. No speed records today but it was a great day out on track. Thank you Ron!

You have a lot of composure for someone quite new to the sport and driving such a potent car! It was a blast to be able to see how the ZL1 performs on the track (I was all set to get one but have decided to wait for the next Z-28). Each time I drive the Z-28 I like it more. The car is stock except for a few suspension tweaks. I am considering doing a little more work over the winter. I enjoy passing cars costing more than twice that of the Z. Your line is great. Keep working on your corner entry and exit speeds. A car has its traction limits mid-corner, so you to run faster laps, you must maximize your entry and exit speed (exit being more important). I think if you analyze the video, it becomes apparent. But don't fret! It takes time and stay patient and drive within your limits, which you do. Try to get some more laps with Simon. Lap times are relative and they always drop and yours will too. I was front row at the PCA National Race at LRP in my Cayman S 6-speed race car (in photo) about five years ago at 57.1 seconds. The following year the pole was at 56.9 and the year after I believe it dropped to 56.5 in a PDK car. Also, you may want to switch off the auto-blip and learn how to heel and toe (the new-technology transmissions will soon make it extinct) as it is a great part of track (and street) driving experience. I have the auto blip on my Porsche Carrera GTS and my son loves it but I never use it. It's a generational thing. Let's try to meet up next season. I am sure you will make it tougher for me as time goes on.

Definitely rewatch the videos. Look at his line, braking, and acceleration points. It helped me at mid-ohio and gjnerman.

Great looking car.
If you were taking pointers from the Mustang driver in your video above...toss it out the window. He was a horrible driver. You set your camber at -2.7. Is that all she would give? That's not close to enough for my requirements and I'm wondering how much more there is to get (if any) on the OEM adjustment. Thanks

Safer yes, but not as fun. Race mode does not do this. As stated above, less intervention. Everything full off is best if you have the runoff. The car really handles well without the interventions. I thought it would be hard to put down 650 HP, but with a sensitive foot, this car is a sweetheart. Ps. Without a sensitive foot, I don't believe the nannies can save someone in this car even with interventions. Power can overwhelm the ZL1 no matter what the setting. This is not a car that I will be giving to valets anytime soon.
