Radz, he did inquire about the CARB process as well, any update on that for us Cali folks. OP I got in riiiiiiight before they pulled the CARB back so I was able to get it shipped and installed at a shop here. But I'm not sure what the status of the CARB cert is....

So wait, clear this up for me. They had a CARB number and lost it?

The torque to yield process on the stock head bolts wasn’t done right or it just flat out stretched the factory bolts. Has been fine now with ARP head bolts using the same .028 gaskets. My C7Z is running 11:1 compression with 19-20psi and hasn’t had a hiccup with ARP head studs. Same tuner for both

Don't feel bad about what may have happened bro. These OE bolts are weird despite how stout they appear. During my initial torquing on my build one of the bolts broke deep down inside the engine block for no particular reason. It really made the extraction process difficult at the time, but luckily the block was saved without needing to do anything special to the threads in place, and nothing was damaged except for needing the obvious replacement bolt. I even noticed during the build that the FSM indicated to install the bolts dry when that goes against all traditional modern aluminum engine build wisdom, but I obliged as I thought maybe there was something special about this engine that wasn't being specified in the verbiage.

That is the second time GM has let me down while following their instructions to a T. Next time I'm doing something I have noted to myself that if I see something odd in their instructions that I'll go specifically out of my way to ignore it.

To another post: CARB-certification was never lost. It was never accepted by ARB.

clg82: They are still going back-and-forth with ARB. I should be receiving another update this week - fingers crossed...

Has anyone weighed the stock blower and the 2650?

I am surprised it's only 20lbs like people have mentioned?

I believe the 20lbs was between the factory blower and the 2300, not the 2650. Probably closer to 40

I have both sitting on a shelf, I'll try to remember to weigh them tomorrow.

Please do, this question comes up every so often and no one has the answer.

I never followed up in this thread, but Magnuson achieved CARB exemption (D-488-61 and 62) close to a year ago, so it's a go in CA. If you ordered before then, like me, you'll have to reach back out to Magnuson, with a picture of your engine bay showing compliance, and they'll send you a sticker.

OK, here we go. I tried my best to make sure they had the same components included in each weight although I just noticed that from the pictures that I left the throttle body bolts in the 1740, should only account for a couple ounces.

Name: SC Weight-3.jpg
Views: 1237
Size: 158.1 KB

First the TVS 1740 - this is the tall lid tilted brick unit, its weight is 68lbs 2oz.

Name: SC Weight-2.jpg
Views: 1245
Size: 147.6 KB

Next is the Maggie TVS 2650 - this is the original 3 piece housing, its weight is 84lbs 10oz.
I don't know if the newer once piece housing is lighter or heavier.

Name: SC Weight-1.jpg
Views: 1236
Size: 126.1 KB

Finally, I had a THP lid laying there so with the that 2650 weight was 82lbs 15oz.

So in summary the TVS 2650 weights 16lbs 8oz more than the LT4 1740SC

Thanks, this confirms that I will make the move to a 2650 eventually. I wasn't sure if weighed 40lbs more but 16lbs is easily worth it.
