It's a shame people can't figure out how to ADJUST THEIR MIRRORS. In my 5th Gen, I can see a car in the side view as it's leaving the rearview, and see it with my eyes on either side before it leaves my sideview mirrors.
PURE LAZINESS and whining like babies..... |

The Camaro is what it is and rear/forward visibility is no worst then the previous generation and it was successful. Ok! The Camaro is not a "great coupe", never has been but it is one hell of a performance value with edgy styling. My GTO is a "great coupe". No one cares because the styling sucked.

When you are in the city, in a parking lot or parking structure will LDW, SBZA, FCA or Back Up Camera help? Maybe it's too much time on a motorcycle that has lead me to believe the importance of visibility. And for the at least 12th time, my concern isn't whether anyone on this site loves the Gen6. Pretty much we all do. It's why we come here and talk about it. My only worry is that is that if the car does not have broad enough appeal we get 2002 all over again. If the car doesn't sell it will less profitable. If it's less profitable, it won't get refreshed as often or as well. And that leads to 2002. It will likely sell close to Gen5 volumes. But I don't see it selling better than that. I hope it does. But you guys are fun because you are all making the point that the visibility isn't very good because you are suggesting people "adjust their mirrors properly" and magically visibility improves. It doesn't. It just means you don't have blind spots. And many of you may not have experience in the following point, but if you have to train someone to use your product you are losing. So I'm not arguing with you guys. Not my intention at all. But to say visibility doesn't matter is just ignoring the obvious. But further, I've had experience with many GM programs where GM chose styling over function. Look at the ATS and CTS. Not selling well are they? I know GM made specific choices on high belt, slammed roof with ATS. I sat in the seating buck were they took a BMW 3 Series and raised the door trim panel, lowered the roof, etc. What was pretty decent small car was turned into a car with less space and worse visibility. And driving a luxury sedan shouldn't have visibility issues.............and the ATS does. GM knowingly makes decisions to trade styling for function all the time. In the case of the Camaro it probably won't be a detriment to sales. But I'm sensitive to it not only because it happens to be important to me but also because I've watched GM make this trade off time and time again from the inside. And for the 25 plus years I was there market share went up 2x. So I want GM to make that quantum leap forward and with the Camaro, they listened heavily to the Disciples (assume everyone here knows who they are) and they said "more of the same, more BA, more performance". And that's what we got. And again, I'll repeat it for those that seem hyper sensitive to ANY criticism of the Gen6.....GM DELIVERED ON THAT WONDERFULLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Challenger has always been "greater" than Camaro and Mustang in the big three decisive categories of what you claim define greatness.... Greater Visibility, rear-leg room, and trunk space, all having been offered by Dodge for many years. Yet it has never once led in sales, in fact always has been last. Perhaps the only admission that needs to be made is by you. (I know it's a tough pill to swallow), but you may be the one who is wrong and that what you call facts are only your opinion, and no better than anyone else's. |

I learned to drive on a 1985 Cadillac Eldorado. If you remember those cars they had tiny rear windows and an expansive blind spot from the rear quarter window on back around to the back window. They also had very small side view mirrors by today's standards.
Having test driven the Camaro twice and both times was a 1 trim level, I can tell you visibility was not a problem for me at all. I backed it into a spot between two Silverados without a problem. You're acting as if the visibility of this car is like a Lamborghini Countach, where is actually IS no rear visibility because the intake scoop is right in the way of the 4 inch tall rear window. |

Just another way to pad the bottom line. Whether you want it or not.

The only thing I wasn't a big fan of was (as mentioned) the nav screen pointing down. I know why they did it and the idea is good. I just like the more driver-centric setup in the Challenger where the gauges wrap just a bit toward the driver. I think that does a lot to reduce glare as well because I've never once seen any glare on my Challenger's 8.4" screen. Anyway, like I said, damned if you do, damned if you don't. Make the interior more roomy and a usable back seat, they say it's too heavy. Make a more streamlined car/roofline and they'll say visibility is bad. Open up visibility a bit and they'll claim the car isn't streamlined enough and is too tall or boxy. Keep in mind that these reviewers are paid to find something to pick on. If they don't: bad review. It's like going to a top notch steakhouse and complaining that you had to chew more than you do when eating a Big Mac. ![]() Mike |

Blind spot warning on the side mirrors helps tremendously. It should be standard on cars like the Camaro, but I don't know if it is or not.

LOL, all these C folks jacked cause of reviews of poor C visibility because of poor visibility. Adjust ur own freaking mirrors. Blind spots are just the start. U cannot see out the side window to see anything higher than a fence post. Stop light, do not be the first or be under 5-10.
LOL, my buddy just bought a 2016 Cad CTS-V. Great Visibility and will out run /perform the current C-6. Only problem for me is 4 doors/ And many more $s. From C&D: not the mini van drivers, LOL: The Chevy’s cabin is far more crowded than the Mustang’s, and the form-over-function exterior creates some ergonomic woes inside. Hang an arm on the windowsill and your elbow rises to ear level. The high trunklid and low roofline squeeze the view out the back into a sliver. Wide B-pillars and the rising beltline render the rear quarter-windows useless. When the feds make blind-spot monitoring mandatory in the coming years, you’ll have this car to thank. http://www.caranddriver.com/photo-ga...omparison-test LOL: more: In doubling down on the retro-caricature style of the fifth-generation Camaro, Chevy appears to have designed for the next Transformers movie rather than the buyers who will live with the car. Stylists injected steroids into the bodywork and, almost unbelievably, knocked the roof about an inch lower to make the greenhouse even shorter. The stocky Power Wheels proportions suggest that a full-grown human would have to poke his or her head through the sunroof to drive this thing. More for "you all drive vans and adjust ur mirrors crowd": There’s more natural light entering Guantanamo’s solitary cells than the Camaro’s cabin, and yet designers struggled to shield the navigation screen from glare. Their inelegant solution tilts the screen toward the floor, an awkward angle that also reflects the faux-metal bezel surrounding the shifter. The panel gaps of the instrument-cluster hood—directly in the driver’s line of sight—should make Bob Lutz weep. So just say "ya visibility sucks but I love it." Not, if u think visibility sucks ur this or that...I like the C-6 but visibility (not just blind spots) sucks. Will be waiting for a hardtop and a little more green house. Maybe a long wait or will just have to go to a faster Cad 4-dr and more bucks. Naw, need a 2dr, with hardtop if I could. C-6 with the Vett engine is just hard to beat but yes outward visibility is poor. |
