Very cool though!

So let's start with the concept of subsidies. If you had real money in the market and understood tax law and subsidies, you'd know that Tesla gets fewer tax breaks than the big three. Peel back the layers a bit and you'd also realize that big oil gets the vast majority of those subsidies. THAT is where your tax dollars go. Tesla is a mere fraction of that.

That's why Musk made a plea this year to end ALL subsidies for Tesla and the big three. Why do you imagine this was denied, hmmm?

Big oil and the big three have spent huge amounts of money to label the Tesla as a "liberal" car and build a false agenda for it. This works great on middle Americans where education is poor. But the rest of us and the world as a whole is pretty stunned by the Tesla innovations that keep coming.

As an American who wouldn't be proud to see that Tesla, in just a few years, is building some of the best cars in the world?

As to the foolish comments about the ecological footprint, no, it's not worse than your Camaro. More importantly, this is important tech that is advancing very rapidly. It has a vastly superior development arc while ICE cars do not.

Sadly, many people can't think about anything but THEIR needs and what's happening TODAY. That's the kind of thinking that's damaging our planet. It's all about money. Even after Exxon's own research about global warming was leaked and they were forced to admit to it, denials still continue.

The Tesla may not be the future. There are other alternative fuels. But it's helping to pave the way.

In a short while we'll all be watching Demons bust the 10 second barrier, just like Hellcats busted the 11 second barrier. But that's no threat to a ZL1, because it's not designed to be a dragster.

LOL if you think the announced Tesla won't cremate our cars and exotics as well. A Tesla sedan RUNS away from my Hellcat. A purpose built Tesla sports car will be even better than Musk claims...and he knows it.

So hold onto your hats, kids. Times are changing.

Its hard to take being lectured to about climate change when you own or want to own some of the vehicles with the worst MPG ratings.

I could also lecture you on jet drive systems for large yachts and Aero rigs on sailboats, though I own neither system.

The Hellcat is not for commutes. It's an occasional weekend toy. But even if I drove a Hummer, it wouldn't change the facts as presented.

We travel in a Mercedes GLC 300, which gets good MPG and that's only for family duty. My wife commutes in a convertible beetle and we have a deposit on the Tesla Model 3.

Lucky for us folks like you got the Keystone done...oh wait...it just burst and killed everything around it.

Look at the poor soul who thinks his taxes paid for Tesla, but not Exxon and Chevy. This is the root of how control in maintained. Amazingly, having a computer right in front of you make such control even easier.

I love the crazy spin big oil and the right wing agenda has applied to the Tesla. It certainly gives an solid indicator of how to sell crazy. After driving the Tesla multiple times all I can say is WOW, what a great car.

Well, when you get your ZL1 your personalized plate should read ECOWARRIOR.

Are you done?

This thread is not about oil pipelines or Tesla cars. Let's keep the conversation to the Demon - or start a new thread.

Exactly. ICE tech is at the end. Electric is just getting started and a hugely heavy electric sedan crushes the fastest Vette's off the line.

Attacking a Tesla sounds like the guy on a horse laughing at the first cars. Some people have brains and vision and some are stuck in their own mud.

With a inherently lower center of gravity and instant torque, the Tesla sports cars will have nothing to compete with them. What kind of car enthusiast isn't thrilled with this and proud that it's from America? We're about to wipe the floor with 100 years of legacy exotics for a fraction of the price!

Only real Americans need apply!

Nobody said the Demon is dead.

I'm just pointing out that you don't know what you're talking about. People who brand bash and trash the choices of others rarely do.

I gave up my spot for the Demon for someone who absolutely wanted it more than I did.

If stating reality is brand bashing then so be it. The Challenger is on a chassis from 2009, Chevy is in it's second upgrade since, Dodge just dropped their highly successful track car on a platform that was just a few years old. So if I am a betting man do I bet on Dodge who may be gone next year and is unreliable or go for the highly engineered ever evolving Chevy. It's an easy choice. Besides I love driving twisty mountain roads, in a ZL1 it is like being connected to the road, in a hell cat you would be connected to the trees.

Pipeline likely sabotage by some Tesla Hugger.

This is the problem with people like you. Everything threatens you, so all you can do is lash out. So if you want to take a beating, here goes...

We drove two ZL1's and here are the negatives:

1) Rear seats are terrible and storage is poor. By comparison our Hellcat is a comfortable 4 door cruiser that can be driven anywhere.
2) Out on the highway it's faster than the ZL1.
3) On the track it's faster than the ZL1. That's why you have a sad thread called "where are the 10 second runs.
4) Not only can a well driven Cat take you on a drag strip, but it can run all the way to about 205 MPH.
6) As pleasing as the ZL1 power is, not only is the Hellcat faster, it FEELS more visceral when you push the car. It's an open road beast.
7) I've been to maybe 12 or 13 charity car shows in NY and in LA. Our Hellcat has collected 5 trophies for modern muscle. Not Camaro wins because they're hugely common and look alike. Everyone is shocked to see the comparatively rare Charger Hellcat.
8) Visibility is poor in the ZL1. I can live with it, but it's still poor.

Gee wiz, Gilligan, it sounds like I don't like the ZL1! Nope, I love it. It sucks in some ways and it's brilliant in others. It gives up my Hellcat's practicality and room to be a great handling well rounded sports car.

That's why I may keep it. Because the Zl1 can't replace it. Just like neither can replace an Evo X or a STI or Miata.

You are just a fanboy. Worst thing for a forum like this. I see some real car enthusiasts here, but you're not one of them. What kind of guy can't handle a thread talking about a totally different car with a LOT more muscle?

You.
