NHRA definition of a drag race.
A drag race is an acceleration contest, on a track, or dragstrip, that begins from a standing start between two vehicles over a measured distance.

I am calm Bro
we're did I say the Hellcat is not faster I own one so I know how fast they are!! What I'm saying is the whole vid is about this!"Expect to see approx. 100 rwhp gains with tune, intake, pulley and headers for around $5k worth of parts. At this power level, the all-in performance value becomes unmatched." |

I had an 03 Cobra with a 2.3 Whipple on it. You're right, they're easy and cheap to modify. It seems odd to me as well, that it would cost that much to get 100 HP. I would imagine an upper pulley, crank pulley and a tune would get you close to 100 on a ZL1? Did you just do a 2.76 upper with a tune on your car? You usually don't have to do BAP or pumps, injectors, MAF unless you port the blower and get closer to 500 RWHP.

Well this has been an interesting Thread. Enjoyed the Video. It should not be perceived as a true comparison. I have a Hellcat A8, too. The Video indicates clearly the advantage of todays High Speed Automatics over manual transmissions. It is also clear that role on comparisons don't show much about traction and speed. I suspect the ZL1 would have out run the HC with a really good driver from a stop instead of a role on. Reality...Most people driving manual transmissions don't shift well enough to out run dual clutch or high speed autos. Traction of my HC from a stop is entertaining but its not very good. Both cars are awesome. I truly enjoy my SS Camaro because of its handling, speed, and light weight. The ZL1 is probably going to be a better car on the track for sure. The HC would continue to be a more comfortable and fun for me on the road. If the ZL1 used the stock seats from the SS it would be a toss up except performance of the Camaro...just better. Now last thing is braking. The HC brakes are far better than the SS. I am guessing the ZL1 will be just as good or better than the HC. Having had a 2015 Gt and a HC I think Chevy SS Brembo brakes are poor.

Simple answer is that it takes a hell of a lot of talent to get a good launch with 700hp and street tires. Now you have to find two drivers with that kind of talent for the results to be meaningful. As John put it, he wanted to show which car is faster, not which driver is faster.

I guess no one is interested in finding out if one can launch better or not.
