I'd like to buy 4 black rims and the exact same tires that goes on the regular SS.
Anything mechanical standing in my way (differential etc...?)

Hey bud,

Square essentially means the same wheel size all around. The stock car has a wider rear than front and many who track often prefer the square setup.

One huge advantage is the ability to rotate tires. Can't do that with the offset setup.

Hope that helps a little!

Yeah agreed... RE71R is a little more aggressive from a grip/wear standpoint than most 1LE owners would want/need. I'm sure new Pilot Sport 4 would be a good alternative to the OE Goodyears, though not if they are much more $$. Goodyears damn good option for most owners.

I just put 1100 miles on the car this past weekend going to visit friends in Asheville via the tail of the dragon! 295 square doesn't have a huge impact on the car's handling balance, its still insanely stable and fun on the street or track; but allows me to rotate tires on wheels to maximize tire life (it helps my best friend runs a track prep shop and gives me a good deal on mount/balance!)
I think that I am figuring it out. 295/30 square means the same rims and tires size all around, correct?
I like the pictures you posted of your car with the tires mounted. Please when reading this , remember I have never done this before. Can you tell me what I need to buy for rims and the exact sidewall markings on your tires. It would stear me in the right direction for what I would like to do.

Tanks

Al

Hey thank you. Had missed your reply before my last posting. Now I understand the square part. Makes sense. I had different sizes rear/front on my 2014 SS and it did cause a problem on not being able to rotate them. For my kind of driving (on Vancouver Island with lots of rain), I am thinking of going with 4 of the same rims,(square) and Michelin tires with a bit more wet road friendly thread pattern. Maybe 4 P275/35ZR20 on black satin rims and keep my originals, for if and when I go to the track. It would also eliminate the rock damages. I didn't have any problems with the P275/35 on my 2014 and didn't need the guards.

Thanks again

These are definitely a good option. Since it seems 295 doesn't rub, that looks the way to go.

I agree, the OEMs are definitely beyond my expectations. The only thing is here in Pacific Northwest we also see a lot of rainy days (not much rainfall but the amount of wet/damp days) I have been quite happy with the PSS tires iwith all my cars and they say the new PS4S is even better for wet and dry. Depends on how much life I get out of these OEMs I might get another set, I'll see.

Another reason is the cost, those PS4S will (if not tracked) last forever when providing a great ride and wet traction so I can use the funds towards the better and long lasting track compound tires. The same reason I never use street pads on the track. I am just too tired of dealing with performance compromises at the track and need to change them after 2-3 events.

Do you ever come to track events here in WA, OR? I've seen some videos of the new track in Vancouver Island , "Island motorsports circuit" and was going to register . Then I learned it's sold out already :/

For those running after market/second set of rims (such as track use specific): do you have TPMS sensors on them? If not, any issues with electronics going bonkers? Thx!

YEs that Track is sold out. You had to pay a $25000 membership fee up front to even get in the door. The only place for us up here is to go down to the USA, which I plan on doing.

Hello. So you are running those 295/30 on the original rims that came with the car. I am such a klutz when it comes to sizing tires. I thought I would have to buy new rims to go the way you did. I really like that "in between" setup and love your car.!!!

I have and been using it. Since the TPMS sensors are very cheap (I only paid $70 for a set of take offs) and very useful at the track as the Tire pressures are good indicator of the operating temps, I wouldn't just use without them . Not sure if it causes any issue besides the TPMS light in the dash but I highly doubt it

That is insane, wow! I thought this is the only place that they ask ridiculous amount of money for the initial fee and annual membership
http://www.area27.ca/membership/

They're both in BC. It looks like a nice track but didn't look better than Ridge, ORP or PIR In fact RMP and ORP would still get my vote even if money wasn't the object.

Let me know if you ever want to take it to a track at ORP I have some club member voucher for guests

No, not running any TPMS on track wheels. No aside from tire pressure warning light, no issue with other vehicle electronics. Once you put OE wheels back on, TPMS warning goes away, no need to reset any lights or anything.

Thx x2 guys. Asking as a friend with a Vette experienced weird car behavior when a sensor went bad (on a track). Cheers!
