But...we've known this car is coming, and we've known that it was going to be a track focused car, we all thought it was going to be a Z/28 though...if you wanted a track focused car...why care at all about a ZL1 then, shouldn't you have waited for the Z/28 (which was actually the 1LE package)?
I'm really not understanding the outrage or disappointment or whatever this is. BTW, the 1LE version is not faster...ok, maybe on the road course, but all that aero does slow it down in other situations, but again, anyone wanting a track car would have known this and waited for it. again...really not understanding the issue here. |

You should read the thread. It's not so much crying and complaining as people trying to make up their minds on their purchases. Chevy threw a wrench into some people's plans.

Z/28 I think it's coming. I agree on those looking to road course...but (i'm thinking as I type here) actually do I? Again, vis a vis the outrage of GM doing such a thing, we've know this car with the canards and big wing was coming...spied how long ago? Outside of that, yes, this is actually probably better news than a Z/28, as it is likely less expensive and if you like the high HP 650 over a less powerful NA powerplant...well hell yes, this is for sure an offering the Gen 5 lineup did not have. |

They may have done it this way to move the Z/28 in a different direction. What if they basically put out this car with the LT1? They really couldn't call it a 1LE, but it would appeal to those that aren't too hot on the supercharged LT4. The Z/28 would then be akin to the Corvette Grand Sport. It's really the only gap in the line up, a truly track focused (as in street legal race car) with an N/A engine. I'm just thinking out loud, as I really have a hard time believing that GM would just simply bury the name plate, it's iconic, it's a deep rooted Camaro tradition, they just can't "not do" a Z/28 Camaro, right? |

Well stated. I can see an outrage if this car had a power bump, but come on really? What's the deal with the disappointment? Yes, I have read the thread and am still scratching my head.

I hope they take the lessons learned here and correct the stance on the regular ZL1. This one is perfect. The 2017 looks like an offroader. It's really bad. I'd be willing to absorb the extra cost and potential laughs at the boy racer look just for that awesome stance.

And LT1-powered car isn't it, and they don't currently have an engine to make "it". |

If you think your ZL1 value will take a bit of a hit, imagine what Mustang GT350 and GT350R owners must be thinking. And will this put rumors of a Z28 in '18 to bed? I can't wait to see the lap times this beast puts down.

Wrinkle Wall DR's coming soon?
The market competition dictates offerings.
Here now are the GT350 / GT350R, HELLCAT, coming soon GT500 and DEMON. The ZL1 1LE is a "natural" line extension of the ZL1 that checks off the "track box". In a very efficient way. Good job GM! Now, the ZL1's "Drag Strip box" for a street vehicle looks to be behind the upcoming Demon and the GT500. The current A10 is formidable, and has the foundation for growth to answer the competition - IF they want to. Certainly a "Drag pack option" could be offered ON THE ZL1 with Dr's, lighter rims, improved weight shifting shocks, and of course a direct intake CAI box and finally a 2.3 supercharger. All that for probably under $6k. Maybe even 4 pod brakes up front. A factory fighter. Not a COPO, but just simply a line extension of the ZL1. It seems they will be forced to respond. I cannot believe GM is going to sit back another 12 months with the competition taking their lunch money! Anyone heard anything? It seems like GM's new intros could be coming at faster than normal pace based on the ILE variant being expedited. |

I wouldn't say that. from all indications there is a LT5 DOHC engine and according to the findings it appears to be NA. How much power and what its going into though no one knows.

OK...I'm over it now. After a weekend of deep thought, a little sleeplessness I am staying with my A10 order. I'm curious what the MRC can do after all it does come highly rated and sounds formidable even for track use and faster than many top cars. I feel I can always upgrade to a full coilover system if I should desire more performance and retain the A10 that I originally wanted.
